What is the significance of the writer chosen to create the world of IDW’s new Sonic comic? And why would a true fan ask that question?
During IDW’s panel at Comic-Con, one of the details everyone’s been waiting for in regards to the Sonic the Hedgehog comic was finally revealed: who’s writing. We now know it’s Ian Flynn, who wrote for Sonic under Archie for over ten years. It’s unclear if this is an indication that the Archie continuity will be following into the IDW version, since the company hasn’t announced any story details. But the odds just became greater.
“I’ve been a Sega kid for life,” said Flynn, “and Sonic has been my career for over a decade. I’m overjoyed to keep running with the little blue hedgehog, and especially excited to be expanding my relationship with IDW at the same time. I can’t wait to show you what I’m made of as we reach for the stars and explore the endless possibilities!”
We also got a date of publication out of IDW: April 2018. As that date gets closer we’ll no doubt be hearing more on what the Blue Blur is up to in its new home, and if Sally and Bunnie are included in his future.
