"NY Times" and Newsarama on the Return of "Futurama" to DVD (UPDATED Nov 30, 2007)

The New York Times has FuturamaFuturama via the direct-to-DVD movie Bender’s Big Score (free registration required). The pair discuss how the DVD came to be after years of campaigning from the show staff and fans, how the economics of direct-to-DVD and the success of Futurama DVD boxed sets affected the decision, and how they exploited the lack of Broadcast Standards & Practices.

Also, Newsarama’s Animated Shorts has interviewed producer David X. Cohen about Bender’s Big Score, discussing what it’s like to work with Matt Groening, how Adult Swim was instrumental in resurrecting Futurama at Fox, getting the cast back together for the new DVD, and how the current writer’s strike shouldn’t affect the upcoming DTV movies. Note: the interview contains minor spoilers for the movie.
