Shingo Araki, Anime Designer and Animator, 1939 - 2011

Anime News Network has noted the passing of designer Shingo Araki on December 1, 2011, at the age of 72 due to acute circulatory failure. A frequent collaborator with director Michi Himeno, Araki was best known for his work on the Saint Seiya anime adaptation, as well as The Rose of Versailles, Lupin III, several adaptations of Go Nagai manga, and Yu-Gi-Oh!. While working for Toei and Tokyo Movie Shinshia, Araki also worked on several American productions including The Mighty Orbots and G.I. Joe: The Movie.
