Cable TV Ratings: "Phineas and Ferb" Special Can't Take Down "SpongeBob"

An all-new Phineas and Ferb primetime special on Disney Channel Friday night couldn’t stop Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants repeats for the week in total viewers. In the cable top 25, The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie (Monday, 10 a.m.) scored 4.355 million viewers and was the week’s top animated program on cable at #12. Three more SpongeBob episodes scored about 4 million viewers and ranked #16, #20 and #22. The Disney Channel premiere of a new hour-long Phineas and Ferb special (Friday, 8 p.m.) was #25 with 3.862 million viewers. The only other animated program in the cable top 25 was the Disney Channel premiere of Ice Age (Thursday, 8 p.m.) at #24 with 3.862 million viewers.

Other animated program ratings for the week include:

  • A new episode of Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated on Cartoon Network (Monday, 7 p.m.) scored 611,000 kids 6-11, 1.003 million kids 2-11, 396,000 boys 6-11 and 619,000 boys 2-11.
  • Cartoon Network’s other Monday night series included Adventure Time (8 p.m.) scoring 1.792 million viewers and Flapjack (8:30 p.m.) scoring 1.620 million viewers.
  • The initial television premiere of Phineas and Ferb: Summer Belongs to You happened on Disney XD (Monday, 8 p.m.) which scored 1.322 million total viewers, 365,000 boys 6-11, 677,000 kids 6-14, 435,000 boys 6-14, 542,000 kids 6-11 and 235,000 boys 9-14.
  • Also on Cartoon Network Monday night, a new Total Drama World Tour (9 p.m.) scored 661,000 kids 6-11, 969,000 kids 2-11 and 538,000 kids 9-14 and 1.591 million total viewers.
  • A new Futurama on Comedy Central (Thursday, 10 p.m.) scored 1.950 million viewers and a 1.0/3 adults 18-49 rating.
  • The Disney Channel premiere of Phineas and Ferb: Summer Belongs to You (Friday, 8 p.m.) also scored 1.53 million kids 6-11.
  • A repeat of Ben 10: Ultimate Alien (Friday, 8 p.m.) on Cartoon Network scored 245,000 boys 6-11, 336,000 boys 2-11 and 197,000 boys 9-14. Following Ben 10 was a repeat of Generator Rex (8:30 p.m.) with 221,000 boys 6-11, 307,000 boys 2-11 and 146,000 boys 9-14.
