Rob Lowe to Voice Captain Marvel in "Young Justice"

TVGuide.com is reporting that Rob Lowe is slated to play DC Comics' Captain Marvel (Shazam!) in the upcoming Young Justice animated series. Producer Greg Weisman stated that "Shazam will be an important recurring character in the series."

Originally a character published by Fawcett, Captain Marvel was introduced in 1940 as the super-powered alter ego of 10-year old Billy Batson, who gains the wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the stamina of Atlas, the power of Zeus, the courage of Achilles, and the speed of Mercury by speaking a magic word formed by the acronym of those six names. The character has appeared in Justice League Unlimited and Batman: The Brave and the Bold recently.
