Disney Plans New "Toy Story" Shorts

Walt Disney plans to produce four new Toy Story cartoon shorts a year, Reuters reports.

The shorts will each be less than seven minutes long and will be thematically aligned to the film series, in contrast to Buzz Lightyear Star Command, which was an episodic series focusing on one character.

The news comes as part of a report that Disney expects retailers to sell $2.4 billion of Toy Story-related merchandise this year. Since the series debuted in 1995, retailers have moved more than $9 billion in related merchandise.
