Gotham Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
Gookie
July 23, 2000 14:43:31

The official website for Gotham Girls has been launched, at http://www.gothamgirls.com. The site will feature original online cartoon shorts, done in the style of the animated series, with the femme fatales of Gotham flying solo on their own adventures. Wizard.com has covered the unveiling of the site, with an article that provides some background of the project and its creation. According to the article, Paul Dini will be working closely on the shorts, to insure that the fans get the quality they deserve.

The first short, "The Vault," was put up July 10. It focuses on the trials and tribulations of Harley and Ivy trying to break into a bank safe, and seems to be one of the "straight comedy" pieces Dini mentions in the Wizard article. It's obviously made with kids in mind, but it's still fun. Arleen Sorkin and Diane Pershing reprise their roles as Harley & Ivy, and future shorts will reportedly feature Catwoman, Batgirl, and Zatanna.

GG's sister site, Loboonline, was released some time ago. While the material there is intended for somewhat more mature audiences (and isn't directly related to Kids' WB!), it's still some good stuff.

Both sites are best viewed in Internet Explorer, with a cable modem.

It's also worth mentioning that gothamgirls is sponsoring a "Create a Superhero" art contest. There are some really keen prizes involved too. Full details are here:
