New Series "Cybertron" Continues Transformers Franchise on Cartoon Network

by on February 18, 2005

Hasbro announced its 2005 plans for the ever-present Transformers franchise today, including details on the new animated series Transformers Cybertron. The new universe-spanning storyline finds the Transformers home planet, Cybertron, in danger once again. To save the planet from certain destruction Optimus Prime leads the Autobots in their search to find the four Cyber Planet Keys. However, Megatron and his nefarious Decepticons also want the Keys in order to harness their power for evil.

The series will launch on Cartoon Network this summer in conjunction with the debut of the Transformers Cybertron toy line. Unlike previously released toys in the franchise’s history which allowed transformation into two separate modes, some figures will have a “triple-change” feature that allows for three separate modes of transformation. The toys, recommended for kids five and older, will be available starting in July with a range of suggested retail prices between $6.99 and $49.99.
