New "Looney Tunes" Animator Profiled
The Vancouver Sun profiles Jessica Borutski, one of the animators who has done design work for the upcoming The Looney Tunes Show.
Borutuski got the job after receiving a terse invitation eighteen months ago from Warner Bros. creative producer Tony Cervone, the newspaper reports.
The profile gives Borutski the responsibility for Bugs’ enlarged feet and Daffy’s spikier tail feathers, and it quotes animation authority Jerry Beck defending the artistic choice as “walk[ing] that middle ground between cute and dangerous — and that was a subtle something the old Warner Bros. cartoons also had.”
The profile also notes that Borutski had been hired by John Kricafalusi out of college. The notoriously hard-to-please Kricfalusi remembers that “I gave her many of the hardest scenes, and she stoically did them and made them look great.”
