New Disney Channel Animated Series and Movies in Development

Disney Channel’s Gary Marsh, Executive Vice President/Original Programming and Production, introduced the following new original animated series at the Television Critics Association’s meeting on January 12:

*The Buzz on Maggie: a comedy about everyday from the point-of-view of a fly named Maggie. The Buzz on Maggie is executive produced by Dave Polsky (Scary Movie 2) with Laura Perkins Brittain (That’s So Raven) serving as co-executive producer. The series director is exec. producer Dave Wasson (The Ugly Duck-Thing). The series launches June 2005.

*Katbot: a robotic cat alien is sent to earth to study tween culture. Set to bow in September 2005, Katbot is produced by Disney TV Animation in association with Funny Garbage.

*Emperor’s New Skool (working title): the coming of age series is based on Disney’s animated feature The Emperor’s New Groove. The series premiere is scheduled for January 2006.

Also introduced were the following upcoming Disney Channel animated original movies (all working titles):

*Kim Possible: So the Drama*-When a new boy arrives at school and wins Kim’s heart, something is triggered in Ron who finds he likes her as well. The movie features a teleplay by creators/executive producers Bob Schooley and Mark McCorkle and is directed by Steve Loter. Based on the network’s series, Kim Possible, the movie is a production of Disney TV Animation in association with Disney Channel, and is set to bow April 2005.

*The Proud Family Movie*-Penny and her family are lured on an all expenses paid vacation where a mad scientist captures them, refusing to let them go because Oscar won’t reveal one of his secret Proud Snacks formulas. The TV movie script was written by Ralph R. Farquhar, Calvin Brown Jr., John Patrick White and Stiles White and will be directed by series creator Bruce Smith. Serving as executive producers are Farquhar, Tom Wilhite, Bruce Smith and Willard Carroll. The movie is a production of Jambalaya Studio in association with Disney Channel and premieres August 2005.
