NBCU Harvests Sprout

NBCU made it official and bought the preschool kids network Sprout from the other two members – PBS and HIT – of the previous ownership consortium. Sprout is the home of original television programming for the preschool set that included “Caillou”, “Noodle and Doodle” and “The Chica Show” and is available to 60 million homes via various cable systems.

According to third quarter 2013 Nielsen data, the Sprout network, with 164,000 total day average viewers, currently sits second behind Nick, Jr. from Nickelodeon/Viacom [345,000] and just above The Hub [Discovery/Hasbro] with 127,000.
