The high school superheroes called the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers were popular enough in the 1990s to have a feature film made of their television series [called, appropriately enough – “The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie”]. But the 1995 movie was not as popular as the show – making only $66 million worldwide – a modest success but not enough to warrant another movie based on the series…until now. Lionsgate will be rebooting the franchise with another movie in two years although only three of the movie and television Power Ranger original actors remain in the movie business [Johnny Yong Bosch, Jason David Frank and Amy Jo Johnson – that’s black, white and pink rangers from the movie].
“The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” is currently scheduled to be released on July 22, 2016.
