MGM Announces "Spaceballs" Animated Series

MGM, Brooksfilms and BFC Berliner will produce an animated series based on the 1987 Mel Brooks film Spaceballs, the companies announced today.

Brooks and writer Thomas Meehan, who co-wrote the original movie, will pen an hour-long pilot and supervise writing on an additional 13 half-hour episodes. Brooks will serve as an executive producer and will also voice the animated counterparts of the characters he played in the movie, President Scroob and Yogurt.

BFC and MGM will produce the series, and MGM will distribute it in all territories except Germany.
