Marvel Posts Better Results in 2004

by on March 7, 2005

Marvel Enterprises had operating income of $41.4 million in the fourth quarter of 2004, up from $26.6 million in the same period in 2003, the company said today. Revenues rose to $100.5 million from $85.7 million.

For the full year, Marvel had operating income of $224.4 million on revenues of $513.5 million. That compares to earnings of $167.2 million on revenues of $347.6 million in 2003.

Marvel’s results reflected strong results at its Licensing and Publishing divisions, both of which recorded stronger revenues and income in both the final quarter and the full year. Revenues at the company’s toy division were up for the year, but income fell, thanks to increased advertising and promotion expenses and lower sales volumes.
