‘Love*Com’ TV Anime Coming to Tokyo Broadcasting This April
A television anime based on Aya Nakahara’s popular shoujo manga “Love*Com – Lovely Complex” is scheduled for release this spring.
The romantic comedy of the mutually-supportive relationship between unusually tall girl Risa Koizumi and her vertically-challenged companion Atsushi Otoni was published by Shueisha from September 2001 to December 2006, and a hit live-action movie debuted in summer 2006. A total of 15 collected volumes have been released to date, with over 10 million units in combined sales. Other media tie-ins include Voice drama CDs, novels, and Playstation 2 videogames.
The anime will be handled by TOEI Animation, with animation direction and character design by Hideaki Maniwa (Eureka Seven, ONE PIECE TV series, etc.), series direction by Kounosuke Uda (Sailor Moon, ONE PIECE The Movie: Dead End no Bouken, ONE PIECE The Movie: Karakuri Shiro no Mecha Kyohei, Binbou Shimai Monogatari, Mamotte Shugogetten, Yu-Gi-Oh, etc.), and scripts by Yumi Kageyama and Midori Kuriyama, etc.
The premiere is scheduled for Saturday, April 7th, at 5:30 PM on Tokyo Broadcasting System stations.
The series’ website can be read here.
VIZ Media will begin publishing the English-language version of the Love*Com manga in July 2007.
