LA Times on Wes Anderson and "Fantastic Mr. Fox"

by on November 17, 2009

The Los Angeles Times has taken another look at Wes Anderson’s animation debut with Fantastic Mr. Fox (free registration required), noting the director’s self-described neophyte status at stop-motion and demanding requirements for the animators while directing the movie’s London crew from an apartment in Paris. The article takes note of the many in-jokes and references to previous Anderson movies (a trademark of his films), as well as to the casting choices. The article also notes that the differences between Anderson and director of photography Tristan Oliver have been “smoothed over,” with Oliver expanding on comments he made earlier about Anderson’s absence from the studio.

Fantastic Mr. Fox is in limited release now and will open nationwide on Friday, November 25, 2009.
