“Khumba” the second effort from South African animation studio Triggerfish was initially released to limited markets in December 2013 and is now out on Blu-ray and DVD. The film voice-stars Jake T. Austin in the title role as a zebra who is only born with half his stripes and is subsequently teased by the other animals on the African savanna in a “Lion King”-ish tale. Laurence Fishburne voices the role of Seko, Khumba’s father, Steve Buscemi is a wild dog named Skalk, and Liam Neeson is a half-blind but wise and crafty leopard. The Blu-ray and DVD extras include a Behind the Scenes featurette, a look at The Karoo [an unknown area where Khumba ventures], and character evolutions.

“Khumba” is set for Blu-ray and DVD release on February 11, 2014.
