Jetix Big Blockbuster Summer 2006

The Jetix Big Blockbuster Summer, a summer-long programming event beginning MONDAY, JUNE 5 kicks off with the premiere of “Oban Star Racers,” an intergalactic animated adventure, the second season of “W.I.T.C.H.,” original episodes of “Power Rangers Mystic Force” featuring the new Solaris Knight and The Jetix Hero Awards.

“Oban Star Racers” airs an hour-long premiere Monday, June 5 during Jetix on Toon Disney Jetix (8:30 p.m. ET/PT), with encore airings on Friday, June 9, (8:00 p.m. ET/PT) and Saturday, June 10, (10:30 a.m. ET/PT) on ABC Family. Half-hour episodes will air in the regular timeslots on Toon Disney Jetix, Mondays (8:00 p.m. ET/PT) and Saturdays (10:30 a.m. ET/PT) on ABC Family.

“W.I.T.C.H.” debuts season two beginning Monday, June 5 (9:30 p.m. ET/PT) during Jetix on Toon Disney and Saturday, June 10 (11:30 a.m. ET/PT) on ABC Family.

“Power Rangers: Mystic Force” kicks off a marathon on Monday, June 12 (7:00 -10:00 p.m. ET/PT) during Jetix on Toon Disney Jetix and on Saturday, June 17 (9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon) on ABC Family. The last hour of each marathon features brand new episodes and the introduction of the newest power ranger, Solaris Knight.

The Jetix Hero Awards, an online viewers choice event where viewers are invited to vote online for their favorite Jetix hero, in categories themed to the spirit of teamwork and adventure, will be hosted by the Power Rangers from Power Rangers: Mystic Force. Results will be showcased on-air throughout Jetix programming on Friday, June 2 (7:00 p.m. -10:30 p.m. ET/PT) on Toon Disney and Saturday, June 3 (8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. noon ET/PT) on ABC Family.

Set in the year 2082, “Oban Star Racers” chronicles the fastest star-racing heroes from all across the universe as they compete in the Great Race of Oban, which happens once every 10,000 years and rewards the winner with the Ultimate Prize, a mysterious gift that may grant the fondest wish of the racer. Now a great range of participants, including Earth’s unlikely team leader, rebellious teen Molly, will challenge each other for a new life of tough training, death defying racers and thrilling adventure. Based on the original short, which received the 2001 LEAF (London Effects and Animation Festival) Award, “Oban Star Racers” is a co-production of Jetix Europe and Sav! The World Productions.

“W.I.T.C.H.,” the acronym spelled by the first letters of five ordinary tween girls who receive extraordinary powers and a heavy duty to protect earth. As Will, Irma, Taranee, Cornelia and Hay Lin harness newfound powers of energy, water, fire, earth and air, these seventh and eighth grade girls must shield the universe, and their hometown Heatherfield from the evil Prince Phobos, the ruler of a parallel world called Meridian. Combining good versus evil action, character-driven comedy and the high jinks of magical powers, an absorbing, continuing story unfolds of five hip, modern-day heroines caught between the trials and travails of tweendom…and saving the world. “W.I.T.C.H.” is produced by SIP Animation.

“Power Rangers: Mystic Force” begins its 15th season of the amazing Power Rangers franchise. Encounter Briarwood, a city where most everyone gets along unless they break the rules. That is, never to cross into the ominous and mysterious Forest where witches, wizards, trolls and goblins live. Now, the rule is about to be broken, as five ordinary teenagers are picked and transformed into the Mystical Rangers to fuse technology and magic into one to help the two worlds coexist. They must make this happen in time before the evil Morticon rises to the surface to take complete control over both worlds. The Mystic Rangers are thrust into a new dimension where they will have to use their wit, talents and special mystical powers to save the world from complete destruction. “Power Rangers: Mystic Force” is produced by Ranger Productions Ltd.

Jetix is a high-energy action/adventure platform and programming block targeting Kids 6-11, and particularly Boys 6-11 around the globe, airing seven days a week on Toon Disney in the U.S.. This fall, the popular Jetix block will feature more than 100 hours of comedic action/adventure each week.
