Int’l Animation Roundup: Broadcasters Strike Multiple Deals for Toon Series

There’s lots of international licensing and news today. Highlights:

* France 2 has commissioned twenty-six new half-hour episodes of Delta State (AWN).

* Nelvana has picked up global distribution rights, excluding certain territories, to Being Ian (World Screen).

* MNET South Africa has licensed the animated TV/web series Odd Job Jack (World Screen).

* Broadcasters in Australia, Scandinavia, and France have picked up broadcast rights to Harry and His Bucket Full of Dinosaurs (World Screen). It has also been acquired by France 5 (World Screen).

* Networks in Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and elsewhere have picked up broadcast rights to The Backyardigans, (AWN).

* Cuppa Coffee will launch Bruno and the Banana Bunch at MIPTV (World Screen).

* EM.Entertainment will distribute the Yoram Gross-EM.TV/Flux Animation series Staines Down the Drain, which will be available in the winter of 2006 (AWN).

* EM.Entertainment has also signed an agreement giving Ukraine’s K1 broadcaster access to EM’s library of kid programming (AWN).

* Networks in France, Australia and New Zealand have acquired episodes of Jane and the Dragon, a 3D cartoon co-produced by Nelvana and Weta Productions (AWN).
