You may not have heard of Albie Hecht, but you have heard of some of his creations. Hecht was formerly the president of the Nickelodeon network and it was under his leadership in the 90s that “Blue’s Clues”, “Dora the Explorer” and “SpongeBob SquarePants” as well as many others became popular and thrived, initiating the successful empire that is Nick today. Hecht was also the creator of the popular Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. After leaving Nick, Hecht only went on to take what was then called the Nashville Network and turn it into Spike TV, which became wildly popular with juvenile males – just ask any that you knew were juvenile males in 2003-05 – with such shows as “MXC: Most Extreme Challenge”. After launching that successful network, Hecht went on to found his own company and now has circulated back to television where he will oversee HLN [Headline News Network].
Hecht will also oversee all platforms for HLN including HLNTV.com.
