by on September 20, 2010

The Campaign for a Commercial Free Childhood has filed a request with the FCC to block the upcoming animated series Zevo-3 on the grounds that it violates the requirement that “no cable TV operator shall air more than 12 minutes of commercial matter per hour during children’s programming,” as well as violating FCC standards for separating commercial content and programming matter. The series is based on characters developed by the Sketchers shoe company for their animated TV ads.The series does not have any product placement, although Sketchers was planning to advertise during the show and distributed a “sizzle reel” DVD in a million shoe boxes starting in August.

The series is slated to premiere on Nicktoons on October 11, 2010.
