With just over three months until its premiere, NBC’s “Constantine” has already lost its female lead, Lucy Griffiths, who will leave the fledgling series based on the DC comic Hellblazer. Griffiths had played the role of Liv, the female sidekick of lead character John Constantine, a supernatural detective of sorts played by Matt Ryan. Griffiths departure in the series will not be recast but rather be replaced by Zed, another female character from the DC comic. Griffiths’ departure was explained only as the ominous-sounding “creators wanting to move in a different direction”.
“Constantine” is currently scheduled to debut on NBC on October 24, 2014.
