Gordon Hunt, Director and Acting Teacher, 1929 – 2016

by on December 20, 2016

Gordon Hunt passed away on Saturday night after battling Parkinson’s disease at the age of 87. His decades-long career included stints as an actor, acting teacher, and director, with a long stint as Hanna-Barbera’s voice director starting in the 1980’s and introducing a small flood of talent both in front of microphones and behind the glass to the world of voiceover. He directed cartoons including The Smurfs, Richie Rich, The Jetsons, Super Friends, Foofur, the original Pound Puppies cartoon, and The Pirates of Dark Water (and many, many more), and also extended his voice director resume into video games starting in the 2000’s, including the Uncharted and Legacy of Kain franchises.

Mr. Hunt is survived by actor B.J. Ward; his daughter, Academy Award-winning actor Helen Hunt; his daughter Colleen; brothers George and Peter; and grandchildren Makena, Emmett and Lizze.
