Has Square actually gotten Final Fantasy XV to run on a mobile phone? Yes, but not without some graphical…alterations. What’s the story behind the Pocket Edition?
By far the most unexpected announcement from Square was Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition, an alternate take on the latest big-budget FF that tells the same story but with simplified graphics. Graphics that, to be honest, have more appeal and personality than the static, “realistic” FF models of recent games. Battles have also been simplified to accommodate touch controls.
The Pocket Edition is ten chapters long, with the first chapter being free to download. It’ll be out for iOS and Android later this fall.
