Funimation A Go-Go Day 3-"Vandread"

by on December 24, 2008

Continuing their 10 licenses in ten days roll out, FUNimation has announced that they have acquired the license for the sci-fi robot series “Vandread”. The show is a Gonzo Digimation production from the early 2000’s and had previously been distributed by Geneon before they ceased operations earlier this year. FUNimation acquired the license directly from the Japanese rights holder, GDH, also the parents company of show producer and frequent FUNimation partner Gonzo. “Vandread” will be out from FUNimation in 2009.

Set in the distant future where there is a literal war between the sexes, Vandread focuses on a young man named Hibiki who stumbles upon a crystal weapon of incredible power and an enemy that threatens the survival of all humans, male and female. The first episode is available in an English dubbed format on FUNimation’s website here.
