Fox Sells Simpsons Syndication Rights To Themselves [FXX]

by on November 18, 2013

Fox sold the cable syndication rights to their biggest moneymaking animated television series – that would be The Simpsons – to their smaller cable network, FXX, for a reported price tag of at least $750 million [that also includes VOD and non-linear rights]. The deal will last for 10 years and includes 574 episodes over 25 seasons – but with an additional amount of episodes to be tacked on to that after the show – which is already the longest-running comedy series in television history – recently received the green light for its 26th season.

FXX initially has access to the first 24 seasons and will begin airing those in August 2014, with episodes from Season 25 beginning broadcast in September 2015.
