A New GL for the World's Finest team to deal with.............(Rated PG)

This is a fan fiction story I have been working on with a new Green Lantern coming in the mix. I will add the World's Finest team in probably chapter 4 or 5. I hope everyone enjoys it.

The Green Lantern Corps had once had 3,600 members for years. The Guardians of the Universe had given the Green Lanterns the rings thus replacing the ManHunters, a long-time foe of the Green Lantern Corps. The Guardians of the Universe were the cosmic beings that were entrusted with keeping order in the cosmos. The Green Lantern ring allows a Green Lantern to do anything as long as his will is strong enough. The Guardians watched over the Green Lantern Corps as they kept the universe peaceful until one day.
Hal Jordan went crazy through the stress and problems of being Green Lantern of Sector 2814 or Earth. His hometown of Coast City who he had protected for many years was destroyed in what seemed like an instant by the uncaring Superman Cyborg and Mongul. All of the Green Lanterns were killed in the murderous rampage with the sole exceptions of Kilowog and John Stewart who went to Oa to help the Guardians stop Hal. The Guardians put all their energies into Ganthet, the last Guardian. The Guardians thus committed mass suicide. Ganthet frantically searched for a GL with a pure heart, fearlessness, and honesty. He literally picked out Kyle Rayner right off the street and gave him the ring. Kyle was a freelance artist who felt that he wasn’t worthy for the emerald thrown. Ganthet lack of instruction and a power battery didn’t help. Kyle subdued Hal. Hal became Parallax and fought Kyle many time until he surrendered his life thus killing the Sun-Eater and reliting the sun once more. Hal went out a hero once more. Later, he became the Spectre and his mentor is Abin Sur.
Only one Green Lantern had been stripped of the power of the ring, Sinestro. Sinestro was Hal Jordan’s biggest rival for years. Sinestro found another source, the yellow ring, a gift from the Qwardians. The Qwardians were the complete opposite of the Guardians of the Universe. The Guardians longed for order while the Qwardians longed for chaos. The Qwardians saw that Sinestro longed for too much order and realized that too much order leads to too much chaos. This long war between the Qwardians and the Guardians of the Universe always lead to a war between Hal Jordan and Sinestro until that day.
During that murderous rampage, Hal as Parallax, killed his long time foe. Sinestro had faked death before, he, certainly, couldn’t do it again. Then, he preceded to use his ring to wreak further chaos. Later, the ring fell into the hands of Obilivon. After that, the yellow ring had been thought to be destroyed. There had been three different Green Lantern Corps. Now, there was just Kyle Rayner and Jade. Unfortunately, the Qwardians had somehow gotten the yellow ring back. They gave the ring to Fatality, the lone survivor of Xanshi, a planet that had been destroyed by a headstrong decision of former Green Lantern John Stewart, now confined to a wheel chair. After Kyle beat Fatality, he tried to capture the ring, but it exploded as she tried to take it off. The Qwardians had gotten it back! Fatality was just a test of the yellow ring’s capabilities for the Qwardians. They gave the ring to Alex Nero. Nero wreaked havoc all over the world conjuring up creatures to destroy. Nero beat and battered Sentinel (Alan Scott),Warrior (Guy Gardner), Jade, Kyle Rayner, and the entire JLA. Finally, Kyle and Nero endured one final battle in which Kyle was the victor. The Spectre (Hal Jordan) appeared to Kyle and gave him the option of living a normal life or accept the whole power of the Lantern with both the GL ring and the yellow ring. Kyle chose the latter. He became Ion, a new hero that can be at two places at once, and his powers are only limited by his will. One of Ion’s first acts was to give Jade her natural powers back. She then gave her GL ring to Batman for safe keeping just in case. Then, Ganthet appeared to Kyle. "I knew you would choose this, Kyle. You were always someone for adventure. Let me see your old Green Lantern ring. I have a plan," he said. Kyle did not need a ring anymore as Ion. He took the yellow ring off and laid it down. Then, he gave the green ring to Ganthet. All of a sudden, the yellow ring exploded as it did on Fatality’s finger. Kyle stood in horror.

In the time of a second, our story travels to an average 15-year-old boy's home in Hope Springs, Tennessee.
"Did you remember to wash the dishes?" Shawn's mom asked.
"Yes!" Shawn exclaimed, annoyed.
"Did you take out the garbage?"
"Yes!"
"Did you do your homework?"
"Yes!"
Shawn went to Hope Springs High School, but today he was off from school. It was Saturday. In between going to school and his chores at home, Shawn had little time to spend at home. Unfortunately, his parents both had to go to work soon. Shawn wanted to go to the mall to avoid boredom. He thought of, maybe, going to his best friend, Bobby Hart’s house after going to the mall. Shawn and Bobby had been best friends since they were born. Bobby lived right next door to Shawn. There was little that Shawn did not talk to Bobby about. Shawn's life was happy and carefree. Shawn hopped on his bike and headed for the mall. As Shawn was riding his bike, his mind wandered to what he would do there. Then his bike hit an unexpected bump.
"Ow! What was that?" he thought as he searched for the source of the bump. He found a green ring with the image of a lantern on it. "Looks like somebody lost their Cracker Jack prize," Shawn said, smiling. He, jokingly, put the ring on his ring finger and got back on his bike. As he was about to get on, the ring turned him into the Green Lantern. "Huh?" Shawn said.
When he turned around, he was mauled by a ManHunter. "Attention unknown Green Lantern, give the ring to us or face the consequences," he said.
"What the heck is he talking about???" Shawn thought. "I am just a kid." he said.
"Follow my order or else, Green Lantern," The ManHunter replied.
Unknowingly, Shawn did as he was told and gave the ring to the ManHunter. "You have chosen wisely today." The Manhunter said. Just as he was about to leave, Ion met him with a heck of a punch.
"Don’t you know to pick on someone your own size?" Kyle joked.
"Kyle Rayner, you do not bear a ring any longer? No matter, the easier, it will be for me to crush you!" The Manhunter said and charged.
Kyle quickly made short work of the Manhunter who promised he would return. "So, what’s up, kid?" Kyle asks.
"This can’t be happening," Shawn says, stepping back in horror.
"Oh, that would mean that you are still in the intial shock of it all. Well, get over it kid, you are the new Green Lantern of Earth."
"You are joking."
"Serious."
"I’m just a kid."
"Haven’t you seen Robin in action? He is 12."
Shawn stood in thought as Jade, Sentinel, and Warrior flew in to meet the new GL. They all introduced themselves to him.
"Hi," Shawn said, shaken.
"Don’t worry, kid. We have plenty of time for you to be trained and I think I know just the trainer." Kyle said.

It had been one year since Shawn Chrebet accepted the emerald thrown. He was now fully trained. His trainer, Kilowog treated him to all the old basics he gave new GL Corps members. He trained Shawn to always keep his wits about him, never give up, always overexaggerate your pain. He had yet to have his first real solo adventure yet. He now yearned for action. Ion took care of New York for the most part. Kyle was finally getting used to his role as Ion while his girlfriend, Jade was getting used to having her old powers back. To Sentinel and Warrior, this was business as usual. Sentinel continued to resume his role in the JSA while Warrior did his in the JLA. Ion was very concerned now though. He wasn’t sure whether Shawn was ready to be a Green Lantern yet. He also questioned the Manhunters, Alex Nero’s death, and the yellow ring’s explosion. It turned out that he had no idea how quickly his fears would all consume at once.
Effigy had recently started fires in downtown New York and stealing when he felt it was convienent. Shawn thought it was the perfect time for him to finally have his first adventure. Kyle was still nervous about him so he said he would come to. Shawn groaned and they flew off together.
"Impatient, ain’t he?" Jade joked to her father, Sentinel.
"Indeed." Alan Scott said, smiling.
Effigy continued the usual until he noticed a green blur out of the corner of his eye coming from the lit up, dark, New York skyline. He noticed Kyle Rayner, who he now knew as Ion, and groaned at the nemesis. He then set his sights on the rookie GL and raised his eyebrows.
"Who is the child?" Effigy demanded.
"I’m not a child!" Shawn said with a punch to the face.
"You certainly are a GREEN lantern, aren’t you?" Effigy joked, "Otherwise you wouldn’t have made that horrible mistake."
Effigy sneered and nailed the young one with a powerful blow. Shawn went 15 yards. Ion was enraged.
"It’s on now, firefly." Kyle said.
"Finally, a challenge!" Effigy said, coming closer.
Effigy threw a giant fireball right at Ion, knocking him down. Ion retaliated and the two had a vicious battle. Finally, Effigy emerged over Ion, who laid on the ground not moving. Shawn got back up and hit Effigy with a Green construct hammer.
"Oh, so you want to play?" Effigy mocked, throwing a fireball at him.
Shawn could not stand the heat and wondered how Kyle fought him earlier. Shawn got his barrings back and struggled to make a construct. Before he could focus his will, Effigy nailed him with a barrage of punches. The heat was horrifying. He couldn’t stand it. Finally, Shawn could only lay down. Effigy stood over him and preceded to choke him.
"Do you know your position, kid? You are ten inches away from dying. Do you understand me, boy???? The next time you pull a fancy stunt like that, I will crush you worse than this. Understand me?" Shawn struggled with a weak nod. "Good, boy, this was like taking candy from a baby." Effigy muttered to himself. Effigy headed into a already-evacuated bank because of the earlier fight. Shawn struggled to get up. He decided in his heart that that nod he gave to Effigy would be perhaps the most regretted lie he will ever make but no matter, he couldn’t let Effigy do this. He would die with the Lantern ring if required. He headed into the bank and hit Effigy with an energy beam in the back.
"Are you insane, kid??" Effigy replied.
"Maybe, I am. No way, I am going to let scum like you beat me though." Shawn said.
"You must be crazy." Effigy said throwing a punch. Shawn ducked it and hit him with one of his own in the gut. Shawn’s earlier lack of courage disappeared as he dealed with the heat and made wise moves. While he was training, Batman had talked to him. He remember now what Batman had said, "Always think before you fight." He said that was probably the biggest problem in this line of business. He often charged that offense to Superman. He claimed that his problem with Superman was that he always came in swinging. Shawn now marveled at how Batman used him and himself in the same sentence. Shawn finished the now weaker Effigy. He went outside and revived Kyle.
"What happened?" the groggy Kyle asked.
"Effigy knocked you unconscious with his barrage of fire balls. I stood back and watched until he turned his back and then I jumped in. He is tied up in an energy dome inside the bank."
"You finished him."
"I guess I did. I couldn’t have done it without everyone’s help though."
Kyle thought that this kid was just too humble. If it was me, I would be jumping for joy and claiming I killed the guy. I think he is ready. Kyle felt ashamed for his earlier doubts. They flew to the Warrior’s Bar and met Sentinel, Jade, Warrior, Kilowog, and John Stewart.
"How did everything go?" Jade asked.
"Not too good for me. Effigy threw me around. The kid came to the rescue." Kyle responded.
"Way too go, kid." Guy said.
"Good job." John said, "Remember though, everything doesn’t turn up roses with that green ring on your finger." Shawn nodded and looked at the most powerful weapon in the world on his ring finger.
"You aren’t old enough for this, are you?" Guy said, holding up a beer.
"Don’t really think anyone is, but no," Shawn retorted.
"Oh, so the rookie is going all saint on us," Guy said, smiling. Shawn smiled as Guy handed him a Mountain Dew Code Red.
"Who’s that?" Shawn said, pointing to the Hal Jordan statue in the bar.
"That was the greatest Green Lantern of All-Time, Hal Jordan," Guy said.
"He saved my butt more than once." John said, chuckling.
"We all owe something to him." Alan said.
"I clashed with him many times. I thought I hated his guts. Now I know that when I was scuffling with Hal, that was the best time I ever had." Guy said.
"I was picked as a Green Lantern after Hal got injured and Guy slipped into a coma. I always thought I was a backup of a backup. I was no Hal Jordan. I was no Guy Gardner. Hal never treated me as an inferior though. I learned so much from him." John said.
"That was the purpose of this little gathering, Shawn. When Kyle became a GL, we had this little gatherings at Warrior’s Bar and tried to pass something on to him. We want to do the same to you with Kyle and Jade in the mix now." Guy said.
"Man, you guys are like the Green Lantern Hall of Fame!" Shawn exclaimed.
"Funny, that is just what Kyle said when we invited him here for the first time," John said. Kyle grinned. Jade smiled.
Meanwhile at the Justice League Watchtower.
Superman. Batman. Wonder Woman. The Flash. Ion. Warrior. Martian Manhunter. Aquaman. Plastic Man. They call themselves THE JUSTICE LEAGUE. A team that seeks justice when no one superhero can handle a crisis on the Earth. Today, they were minus two, Ion and Guy Gardner. All of them were monitoring their seperating stations.(Alarm sounds.)
"What is happening, J’onn?" Superman asked.
"There is a disturbance on the radar. It seems that someone has commandeered the Javelin-4. The Javelin-4 was the Justice League’s main transportation, a supersonic spacecraft.
"Impossible! The Javelin-4 has the finest in security devices." Batman said, "It even has a voice detector." The Flash scurried to the Javelin-4’s hangar.
"Hey, guys. It’s still here." The Flash said, smugly.
"Then, how is it----" Martian Manhunter started.
"Attention, Justice League. You will co-operate with us or else," A familiar voice proclaimed.
"A manhunter." The Flash said with disgust. He had learned of the deadly robots once in an adventure with Kyle Rayner.
"But how did you---" J’onn started.
"fool you?" The Manhunter finished, "It is rather simple. While you were gone, we scrambled the circuitry on your so-called radar. As we speak right now, my Manhunter brothers are torturing your puny planet and you aren’t even aware. This is what we demand. We demand the young new Lantern’s ring or else! Where is he?"
"We would never tell you," Plastic Man chimes in.
"Yeah, you rambling robot," The Flash said as he ran circles around him.
"We have located the ring. Request permission to seize him," A manhunter told the manhunter through their circuit speaker.
"Permission denied. Wait for me to get there." The Manhunter said.
"Who are you talking to?" Superman asked.
"That is not of your concern."
Before anyone could stop him, the Manhunter flew away on his jet boots.
"Somehow, I am thinking that these manhunters are going after Kyle." Flash said.
"If they are going after Kyle, we have to help him." Superman said. The Justice League was going to the big apple.
Back at Warrior’s Bar.
"So Sinestro is beating me bad, right? Well, Hal Jordan comes up there and we have a little disagreement but sure enough in the end thanks to Hal as always, we finish Sinestro. A million or so battles Hal had with Sinestro. He killed him too. Sinestro never won." Guy said.
"Can’t say the situation is radically different for me. He was always there when it counted the most." John said, smiling.
"The first time I met Hal was quite a strange situation. I thought I was the Green Lantern until I saw Hal Jordan in a very strange suite. Of course, later I found out of the crisis of infinite earths and there being an Earth 1 that was the modern Earth and an Earth 2 that had the JSA and lived in the 1940’s forever." Alan said. Shawn looked puzzled. "Let me explain. It was the 1940’s. This was back when people like me started realizing that we had to do something for people. Superman began. Batman began. Some of us decided to make a league."
"Like the Justice League?" Shawn asked.
"Exactly except we were the Justice Society or the JSA for short," Alan said.
They all heard screams coming from outside.
"Uh oh, suit up time, boys." Guy said as he instantly became Warrior. Kyle became Ion, Jennifer became Jade, Alan Scott became Sentinel, and Shawn became Green Lantern. They walked outside.
"Uh oh," Kyle said, "Killer Frost." Kyle said. The superheroes were looking at an almost crystallized New York City.
"Killer Frost? Who is she?" Shawn inquired.
"Killer Frost had a best friend named Crystal Frost. She was in an accident which transformed her into Killer Frost. She was killed by Firestorm. She was so deep in disgust for Firestorm that she re-created the accident and she changed herself. She calls herself Killer Frost as well. She says that she lives through her. She absorbs heat. It makes sense that she is in full power due to the recent heatwave in NYC." Kyle said. They flew to meet Killer Frost.
"Fancy meeting you hear, Ion? Brought your friends?" Killer Frost said with a devilish grin.
"We are here to stop you." Shawn spoke up.
"Oh hi, kid. I guess you are here to sing the ‘I love you’ Barney song, eh? Too bad this isn’t PBS. You can’t stop me without a fight." Killer Frost retorted with a ice beam to Shawn. Shawn had never felt anything so cold. It was like the extreme opposite of what he had felt battling Effigy. Shawn flew 20 feet in the air. He landed with a hard bump. Kyle was enraged and battled Killer Frost with a punch. Warrior, Jade, and Sentinel continued the onslaught. Killer Frost fought them off though with ice beams as well. All four were down and she trapped them in a makeshift ice cage.
"It was fun, but I have a city to destroy." Killer Frost said.
"Not so fast." Shawn said with a green construct hammer to the head.
"You little punk." Frost said with an ice beam to the face. It took everything Shawn could do to blink the icicles off his eyebrows.

I have been reading this story about a new Green Lantern. I like it a lot. If possible, could you post a picture of what Shawn looks like as himself and as GL?
