Story String Idea

I have an idea for a story string, if anyone is interested in starting one. Here is my idea: How will the lives of our Batfamily change if their identities are discovered? What will happen to them? How will their relationships with each other change? Will they be charged in court? How will the villians handle it? etc.
Bascially, what happens if they are found.

Anyone interested in starting it?
It's just an idea, if you guys hate, you can just say so and we can improve it.

It sounds intresting, but I'm not extremely familiar with what exactly a story string is. Care to explain?...

Trent - A story string is someone posts the beginning of a story, usually with a title that suggests where the plot should go, or a main theme of the sotry, and then others pick up the story and add to it. Anyone may add at any point, as long as it makes sense. There is a story string going on right now on the Batman, Superman, and Batman Beyond board called the Death of Superman. Read that and that should give you a good idea of how a story string works. Ther was one there eralier called 'An Unwanted Vacation' about batgirl breacking her leg and winding up kidnapped and dragged to the alter by Ra's Al Ghol. We had one here a few months ago called 'Returning the Favor' about an old flame of Nightwing's showing up and causing no end of trouble. That's an oversimplfication, but you get the idea. Story strings can be fun - I hope you contribute if we do another!

Sweetdreams et al - I'd love to see another string story. I think your idea is good, but it would need a lot of ironing out beofre we started - unless you had an opening post in mind already? I wonder if we could work in an idea I had for a story string. I thought it would be cool to have a story string called 'A Marriage of Conveniance' starting with a startling annoucnment of some sort in the Gotham Times. I could see a lot of possibilteis along the lines of uneasy partnerships. How do you envinsion the bat-clan's identities being revealed? All at once? Some sort of domino effect?

Anyone else with ideas? questions? comments?

Panther - Sure, we can mix those two ideas in together! It'll be more fun. To answer your question, I thinking of a betrayal. Someone close to them that no one will suspect. This person is, I don't know, tired of secrets or wanting revenge for something. I not really good at making villians up. The person can be someone already close to them or someone we make up to be close.
This person will release one of the Batclan's identity, and it will take the domino effect.
For example, let's say Kory hears rumors that Dick and Barbara are getting closer. She gets jealous and decided to ruin Barbara's life or Dick's (one of them)and reveals his or her secret to the world in a press conference with the other Titans (though they don't know her plan). But, she had to intention of hurting the other members. The domino effect takes place, and all the heroes' identities are discovered. Something like that. That is just an example, but if you like it, take it.
Just it has to be someone who was close to one of them, but they drifted apart.
Does that answer everyone's questions. If you have any more just ask.

I agree with everyone else, this would be a great story string but perhapse I can make a suggestion. I was thinking very carefully about how this should start, I would think the domino effect of the Batfamily's identities being discovered would work very well. For example, Tim is discovered first... I know most people see him as the cute one, but he is also the youngest and the one with the least experience, thus making him the perfect target. With Tim found out, it would be obvious Bruce Wayne is Batman, and then most anyone with a brain could figure out that Dick Grayson had been the first Robin, and then had become Nightwing. Figuring out that Barbara Gordan was Batgirl would be more difficult because she actually has no relation by adoption or otherwise to Bruce Wayne, but it could be done with the right spin. Anyhow, I'm looking forward to when this story starts.

What if Tim were to say, maybe get into an accident and someone arrived first (Bullock) and had to check a bad wound over the eye. He gets unmasked, Bruce shows up and all heck breaks loose...?

That's fine with me. But, wouldn't it be better if the Commissioner did it b/c he is closer to them? What do you think? Bullock doesn't like them, so it wouldn't be a betrayal. Any objections to Batgirl's idea or new ideas? Everyone should agree on this, so please let us know if you approve or don't approve.

But Bullock would be more likely to expose the information and share it compared to Gordon who has a loyalty to the Bat-family.

Two words:

Gossip Gerty

For those who don't recall, she was a minor character in 'Batman Forever' and 'Batman and Robin'. She was always after the latest piece of gossip to report and always on hand at big functions to ask Bruce when he was going to tie the knot with whoever was his current girlfriend. I borrowed her for my fic 'Wanted: Prince Charming, dead or alive'. It was so much fun to every now and then break the seriousness of the situation with yet another colonmn by Gerty in the Gotham Times with her specualtions on Bruce's love life.

I think she might be the perfect type to expose a member of the Batclan. She would see it as the ultimate gossip and, of course, would just /have/ to share.

I agree that Tim should be unmasked first. But I also think it would possible, given that he has the least traiing, as Coran said, that he could do something that partially gives himself away, such as saying 'Bruce' instaed of 'Batman'. That, combined with eye wound, unconscious, unmasked, would lead to exposure, and it would not be his fault, per say, but he would nevertheless pile the guilt and blame on himslef. I could see several of the writers here doing a fantastic job exploring the emotion of guilt.

Sweetdreams, I really can't wait untill you start this story string. I'm still working on "The Death of Superman" story string on the Batman Superman Beyond board, but I'll try to post on this string once you get it up and running.

Since everyone has ideas, why don't we mix them in? Like Bullock AND Gossip Gertie and anyone else you want to unmask Tim . Does everyone agree?
After we have all settled that, anyone who wants to write the first part can take the stage. So, who wants to write the first chapter of our second official story string?

Ok, I'll start. But, it might take me a week or two to post. I have four term papers due this week. I am halfway done with three of them. But, you know how picky some teachers can be.

Sweetdreams I cannot wait until you start this story string. This should be quite a classic. As a forwarning for everyone, I have some rather interesting plans for Master Timothy. Have you ever wondered how exactly Tim went from the almost totally carefree youth to the more serious teenager who is in Young Justic? Was it just growing up, or did some powerful experience teach him a few lessons about responsibility? If I'm allowed, I plan to work out a few of those questions in the story string. Anyways Sweetdreams, the floor is yours.
