Time Waits For No One (Prelude)

(Greetings people, it's the newbie Coran again. I've got an idea for a story, but wanted to make sure people were interested, so here's a little preview. Enjoy!)

GOTHAM CITY

He looked over the city through a pair of binoculars. His body was covered by a trench coat and his fedora was pulled down to shade his face. The sun was just setting now, and a touch of a smile covered his face as he watched Batman gaze over the city. One of his men walked up behind him, “Uh, Boss?”

With a quick snarl, he answered, “What?”

“Uh… the boys were just wondering when we would be going after the Bat.”

Spinning the boss glared at him, “Don’t even talk about that! We will not be going after Batman! I never want to be near Batman!”

The man cowered back for a second, then seemed to get slightly braver, “So why are you leading us then if your scared of Batman?” The boss turned and gazed through his binoculars, then began speaking like a teacher to a wayward student, “I’ve studied criminals from the past… Joker, The Riddler, Two-Face, Penguin, and so many others. You know what the biggest mistake they all made was?”

“Um… no. What was it boss?”

“They all decided to try and trap the Batman, and they all failed, so they all went to jail. I plan to time everything so Batman is never nearby.”

The man began jeering, “Sounds to me like yer just scared!”

The boss turned with an evil smile on his face and glanced at his watch for a moment, “No, I’m not scared. I’m just smart, and your stupid.” He suddenly raised a silenced pistol and fired one round.

The boss laughed for a few moment, then said in a condescending voice, "Don't worry Charlie, I checked. It was your time to go." Then he turned and looks back through the binoculars, watching as Batman swung out of sight, “No… I never want to have to bother with the Bat.”

The boss headed for the stairs and went down, "Boys, get the cars ready! In exactly fours hours we start a scheme that Gotham has never seen the likes of!"
