    Son of Batman Epilogue

**Lyrics by Linkin Park, and you all know these guys aren't mine, except for Caitlin, Jason, Emily and Andrew.**

    **
    Crawling in my skin
    these wounds will not heal
    Fear is how I fall
    confusing what is real

There's something inside of me that pulls beneath the surface
    consuming, confusion
This lack of self-control I fear is never ending
    controlling

Caitlin lay on a pool chair under the balcony that overlooked the pool, headphones on her ears, Great Expectations by Charles Dickens in her hands.

Rain poured down, but the temperature had warmed up considerably.

Caitlin looked up from her book to find Jason staring at her.

It had been three days since Big Jason had reset the clock.

"Hi" Caitlin said in a small voice, she hadn't really been talking.

Jason nodded, and crouched down beside her.

Caitlin pulled the headphones off of her ears and looked at him. A large army-style duffel bag was strapped across his back.

His base guitar, and skateboard sticking out of the top.

"Where are you going?" Cailtin asked.

Jason sighed, "I'm going to Antartica." He said completely serious.

Caitlin cocked her eyebrow, waiting for him to say 'Just Kidding!'

    But he didn't.

    "Why?" she asked.

"I need to learn how to control myself, and my powers, stop hurting people."

Caitlin looked down at his bandaged hands, "I guess, but when will you be back?"

    "At the least? Six months."

    "Six months?!"

"Hey, no sweat, look I need you to keep some things safe for me." He said pulling his guitar and skateboard out of the top of his bag.

Caitlin took them into her hands, "So this means your definently coming back right?"

"Of course!" Jason said, kissing her on the corner of her mouth, then kissing the small scar on her arm that the I.V. pulling had caused. He couldn't kiss the one on her head, it set off his visions, and neither of them wanted to re-visit that night.

Caitlin watched as he got up and walked to the back gate of Selina's brand new house.

He turned and waved, and jumped over the low gate, disappearing behind a tall bush.

    **

Selina lay back on her large set of pillows, staring at the ceiling.

Bruce lay next to her, eyes closed, but not sleeping.

She turned and watched his heavy chest rise and fall with each breath.

His hair was now completely grey, but his face still didn't look any older, except for a few frow lines.

He'd explained to her how Jason had transformed him back into Batman.

She scooted over, and lay her head on his chest, listening as his heart beat out the beautiful tune of life.

He responded by wrapping his arm around her.

It must be fate, the two of us. she thought.

People had been saying they were perfect for each other for years, but they'd been too stubborn, and selfish to put the advice to use.

    They knew better now.

This time they'd try harder, there was nothing else they could do but try harder.

Closing her eyes, she slowly fell into the calm abyss of sleep.

    **
Discomfort Endlessly has pulled itself upon me
    Distracting, Reacting
Against my will, I stand beside my own reflection
    It's haunting how I can't seem
    to find myself again

I like that Linkin Park song, it's pretty good. Just one question, a question that's been bugging me ever since you had Jason's sister listening to Sex and Candy. If this is forty years in the future, why do the kids still listen to 90's bands? No offense, I just wanted to know if they loved the "classics" or something.

Overall, a great story. I said this before, and I don't think I can stress it enough, but I remember when I was on Fragile Beings and this story was in its infancy. That makes it a real epic, NC. You should be proud of yourself.

    uhhhhh

Actually, I don't believe in being proud of myself, but you're right I should be!

NEway, I chose these songs because they display the emotions I want my characters to feel.

I always see it in the way of Gotham, being that it's stuck in the forties, or used to be, that these bands that we are hearing now, are their future. Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Cherry Poppin' Daddie's, Squirrel Nut Zippers, etc. are the bands I use to represent 90s Gotham.

Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Korn, Staind, Bush, and No Doubt are all bands in 2030s Gotham. (To me.)

My God, you're actually done? >blinks< I side with DoE, I can remember being on SOME story...possibly finishing up Mental Lapse or starting I Am Vengence when you came around. I've been reading, don't you worry 'bout that, and I've noticed a great growth in your writing since your first post to your latest. I've enjoyed this story, and I look forward to others.

PS--I'm still working on my many stories...I may even try continuing my "Jade" story. Ha, now *there's* a laugh.
    Recent fun stuff:
    - From the Ashes [JLU, C]
    - The Dark Knight Triumphant

    "Mmm, bacon."
    "Stop it."

    ahhhhhh

well, now all I have to focus on is Perfect Dark, A.J. and Mila are really fun to write about. Also: I was watching ROTJ last night, at like 1:00am just for fun.

After not watching it for a month, and having had the opportunity to have seen it before, you begin to notice little things, like how much Tim sounds like he's lying when Terry finds him in the factory.

Or how much the Dee-Dee's need a spanking talking to Nana Harley like that.

Or just how funny the dialogue is, like Tim saying "Well that's just peachy."

Also, how much getting his back "broken-in" by Harley's mallet had to hurt.

But the worse and best part was the flashback scene, I had turned over, and was trying to fall asleep when it came on. And I could only hear everything, before I finally decided to turn around and watch.

When you think back to the relationships Bruce had with everyone, although strained in some cases, he was very protective. He came to care for Tim as best as he could, and to see such a thing happen tore him apart.

Now, I know everyone's seen it by now, and that it's old news, but just go back and watch it, and I mean REALLY watch it, and listen. You'll see just how deep Bruce' friendships go, it seems as though he distances himself from everyone, but he really does care about his "family".

Now that I've went on aimlessly, you can go back to not wondering about my obsessions with Bruce's phyche. (I hope I spelled that right.)
