    The Coming Storm

    Like This Thread!
ok... here's my first time ever posting a story on here... so it might not be too great...

    The Coming Storm

Terry Mcginnis looked in shock at his girlfriend, Dana Tan.

"You're moving?!" He repeated her last words. Tears had formed in Dana's eyes.

"I'm going to miss you Terry!" Dana Shouted, throwing her arms around Terry's neck.

Terry's cell phone rang, for the first time, he ignored it.

"You're moving?!" He repeated it again. Tears streamed down Dana's face as she nodded.

"My dad got transfered. We're moving to Metoroplis." Dana said, sorrow making her voice tight.

    Terry hugged her. "When?"

"One month." Dana said. Her father called her back to the house. "I'll call you tomorrow Terry." She said. Sniffling she ran back toward the house.

The cell phone was still ringing. Terry groaned and turned it on.

    "What?!" He growled.

"I hope you have your suit. Burglary at Vid Electronics." THe familiar voce on the other end of the phone said.

"I'll be there as fast as I can." Terry said. He wiped a tear from his eye, then crept into the shadows.

    ------------------------------------------

Batman arived at the scene of the burglary to find the criminals tied up and unconscious.

There were three of them. Beaten nearly to death.

Batman started to walk toward them when he heard sirens.

"Let the police take care of it." Bruce's voice said into the earpiece. Batman turned around and jetted out.

    ------------------------------------------

The bluish black haired girl watched the bat leave, then jumped out of hiding. The moonlight made her hair shine and brought out the natural blue tint in it. Her silver eyes swept over the scene. Feeling please with what she had done, she flew out of the building.

    ------------------------------------------

    END

Well that's all for now... Let me know what you think!!

"Looks like we're dealing with The Riddler."

    good start

i think that this was a good starting point for your story. needless to say, i am intrigued. one thing i'd like to mention that has helped me out so far. once you're done writing it, read it! this helps out a lot. it helps to catch mistakes and you're looking at the story from our (the reader's) perspective.

one more thing, since you are writing about batman beyond, i thought you might be interested in checking out another BB fanfic that has been written on these boards. it's called Legacys. you should check it out! it's a really good story! i should know, i wrote it!

keep up the good work! we're a nice bunch of people. if you need help with something, don't hesitate to ask!

    Next Part

Here's the next part of my story...

    -----------------------------------------------

The next evening Terry walked with Dana through the streets. The full moon was perfectly visible, along with every star.

"I'm going to miss you, Terr." Dana said quietly. Terry wrapped his arm tighter around her shoulders.

"I'll miss you too." Terry said, his voice barely above a whisper.

The couple walked in silence for several minutes before the ringing of Terry's cell phone made them both jump.

"Do you have to answer it?" Dana asked. Terry looked at her sadly and nodded.

"Alright then. I'll see you tomorrow Terry." She walked away. Terry sighed and turned on his phone.

"You have a great sense of timing, you know that Wayne?" Terry growled, keeping the emotion out of his voice.

Bruce ignored the comment, "There's a break in at Diamonds."

Terry growled and turned the phone off, while slinking into the shadows.

    -----------------------------------------------

The girl hovered high in the air. Waiting for Batman to get here was not only tedious but difficult. Watching these criminals steal, and having been ordered to do nothing unti lBatman arrived, was nearly impossible.

The girl sighed. She stretched her body out, still hovering near the ceiling of the room.

Suddenly a skylight not two feet away from her broke and in came the bat. She soared away, not wanting him to see her.

He easily aprehends the criminals, then goes back out the way he came.

Following orders, the girl flew after him.

    -----------------------------------------------

"Terry, the heat sensors are picking up someone following you." Bruce said.

"Really now?" Batman said. "What do you suggest I do?"

"Confront them I suppose." Bruce said.

Batman dived down onto the roof of a building. The persun followed him

    -----------------------------------------------

Intriguing The girl though, soaring down after Batman. She landed on the roof easily. He stared at her long and hard. She stared back with her cold silver eyes.

    "Who are you?" he asked.

"Must you start off with the hardest questions? Besides? Is that really all THAT important? I mean, in a few minutes one of us won't be alive, so what's the point in telling you my name?"

'That wasn't a very smart--' The girl's conscience, and ultimate worst enemy, began.

Watch my language. I don't curse rememeber? The girl replied to her conscience.

"Why should I kill you?" The bat asked.

The girl raised an eyebrow and stared at him in silence for a moment. Then she threw her head back and laughed. Her bluish black hair shimmered in the full moon.

"YOU? Kill me?!" She asked between fits of laughter.

Batman glared at her, only making her laugh harder.

    -----------------------------------------------

"I don't like this girl." Terry said over the radio reciever.

"I don't like the readings she's giving off. They're not normal." Bruce said.

"Well," The girl said after a few minutes of laughter. "I suppose it's possible... If you used a kry... A gun. But, Batman doesn't use gu.." she stopped, pressing a finger to what must be an earpiece.

    -----------------------------------------------

    "Corrine." THE voice said.

The girl turned away from Batman.

"I'm a little busy right now, Cap." She said in a low voice.

"I told you to stop calling me that. Get back here now." THE voice replied.

"I can't right now! I've got the bat right here." The girl replied angrily.

"This isn't the time, Get out of there NOW."

"But I was just about to start having fun!" The girl exclaimed.

"NOW!" THE voice shouted into the earpiece. The girl jumped a few feet in the air and hovered there.

    -----------------------------------------------

"Bruce! She's flying!" Batman shouted over the readio reciever.

"I figured as much." Bruce said.

"Well, Bats. It's been great fun, talking to you and all... But," She cringed and pulled an earpiece out of her ear and held it in her hand. "but it's past my bed time."

She turned around so her back was to him and flew away.

    -----------------------------------------------

    end

So what do you think of the newest installment?

Witness - OMG! I stared at my computer in SHOCK for like twenty minutes after reading your story. It was FABULOUS!!! Poor Matt... *sniffle* it was so sad!!! BUt FABULOUS absolutely FABULOUS (and shway... and slur... and...)

I loooove this new character you've introduced. I'm very intrigued. May I hazard a guess about her? Is she Kryptonian? Checky, over cofident little thing, isn't she? Cute. Very cute. I loved the dialogue. However, one littel thing, a little description of the surroundings inbetween lines might help.

    keep it up!

"Bruce!" Batman shouted as he soared into the cave. "How can she fly?"

"I don't know. The only answer I can think of is that she is Kryptonian." Bruce said, swiveling in his chair.

"Like Superman?" Terry asked, taking the mask off.

    "Somewhat." Bruce answered.

"Somewhat?" Terry asked. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"Exactly what I said. There's something about her - the readings she's giving off, that is - that just aren't normal."

"What do you mean?" Terry asked, walking over to the computer.

Bruce brought up a couple things on the screen. Terry's eyes went wide.

    "Woah…" He breathed.

    -----------------------------------------------

The girl walked into a large, circular, white room. The only obstruction to the pure whiteness was a small black box that seemed to be a speaker. The box had a small red light that was most probably a camera.

As usual the room sent shivers up the girl's spine. Too much white.

"Alright! I'm here!" She shouted, more loudly and confident than she felt.

"Don't get too overconfident there, Corrine." THE voice boomed. The girl jumped.

"Jeez! You are WAY too loud most of the time." The girl snapped. THE voice laughed evilly. The girl leaned back and lied down on the air.

"Why haven't you completed your mission yet?" THE voice asked.

"Well, let's think about this. I would have had it finished had SOMEONE not made me come back here before I was done." She said, shooting a look at the speaker.

"You should have had it done when you first saw him!" The voice screamed.

'Blah, blah, blah. He talks to much.' The girls conscience said.

    So do you.

'So? Mine is helpful. His is just blahblah, blah, blah, blah.'

His speech is more entertaining than yours!

"CORRINE! Pay attention to me and answer when I ask you a question!" THE voice boomed.

"Sorry Cap. You're just too boring to listen to for extended periods of time. I'm outta here. I'll deal with Batman on my own time." The girl said, then used her heat vision and completely destroyed the speaker. "Bye now."

The girl flew out of the white room and landed on the roof of a building, several blocks away. She sat there for a minute, hovering in the air, before sitting on the edge and allowing tears to spill down her cheeks.

    -----------------------------------------------

The next night Terry was in the Batcave suiting up for that night.

"Do you really think she could kill me, Bruce?" He asked, putting the mask on. Bruce didn't reply. Batman flew out of the cave to look for the girl.

It took him twenty minutes, but he found her. She was hovering above a building stretched out and half asleep.

Batman pulled out a batarang and sent it whizzing past her head.

"AYEE!" She arched her back and soared down to the roof, her arms outstretched. She pushed off her hands and landed neatly on her feet.

"What the HECK was that for?" She screamed.

"For threatening me!" Batman yelled back. "Now tell me who you are, or I'll throw another one, and this time, it'll hit."

"I can't tell you!" The girl screamed.

    "Why not?" Batman yelled.

A drop of water hit the girl on the face making her flinch. She looked up at the sky. Clouds covered the stars. A light drizzle began to fall, and within a few seconds, it had turned to a down pour.

Without saying a word the girl glided off the building and inside. Batman, of course, followed her.

"WO ARE YOU?" He asked loudly.

"I can't tell you that!" The girl shouted. "Jeez! How stupid ARE you? You ask me my name, and actually expect me to tell you. Don't be foolish, bats."

"She's right, you don't expect her to tell you just like that, do you?" Bruce's voice said over the receiver.

"Well, actually," Batman shook his head. "Alright then, WHAT are you?"

    -----------------------------------------------

'Yes, Corrine. WHAT are you. Why don't you go ahead and explain it to him. I'm sure HE'D feel sympathetic.' The girl's conscience said.

Is there a way to turn you off?

    'Nope. You're stuck with me.'

    Isn't that just fabulous.

"Well, girl? What are you?" Batman asked.

"I'll tell you. That is if you can catch me." The girl jumped and flew out, knocking Batman over in the process.

'You're joking right? He'll catch you in a mere moment.'

Shut up! Where should I go?

    'You're asking me for advice?'

    On never mind!

The girl shot up above the clouds and flew even faster, hoping to lose the batfreak.

THERE! The girl shouted, spotting what seemed to be an old abandoned mansion. I'll hide there. There MUST be hundreds of rooms!

    'I wouldn't be too…'

I didn't ask you. The girl dove down and flew right through one of the windows.

    -----------------------------------------------

"She's THERE! Bruce! She just flew into the manor!" Batman shouted.

    "What?" Bruce practically screamed.

"You heard me! She just flew through a window."

Bruce flipped on the monitor showing the rooms of the house. The girl was hovering near the ceiling of one of the guest rooms. She touched something that looked like a bracelet and disappeared.

    -----------------------------------------------

Thank you Cap! The girl thought as she pressed the button on the utility bracelet THE voice's minions had given her.

    'MUST you call him Cap?'

Well I don't know what else to call him. The only thing besides Cap, meaning Captain, that I could think of was Mr. Voice and, I mean, come on! How idiotic does that sound?

    'It's better than Cap.'

    No. It's not.

Batman and an elderly man walked in. The girl held perfectly still, not that she thought Batman could see her, it was just instinct. Batman looked right at her.

"No one's in here." Batman said.

"Turn on the infrared vision." The old man said. Batman pressed a finger to his temple.

"I see you girl." He said cockily.

DARN! She pressed the button again and became visible. She went into a sitting position, still high above the men's heads.

    -----------------------------------------------

"This doesn't mean you've caught me." The girl stated from where she hovered.

"Where can you go?" Batman asked.

"DUH! There's a window right there!" She said, pointing at it.

Bruce pulled something from his pocket. It was a green rock.

"What! Where… no…" She fell to the ground and looked visibly weaker.

"I knew you were Kryptonian." Bruce said.

"Well you aren't entirely correct." The girl muttered weakly. "Take it away. I'll tell you everything! Just take it away!"

"Superman wouldn't give up that easily." Bruce said, putting the piece of kryptonite in a lead container.

"'I'm not Superman." The girl said quietly from where she sat on the ground.

A bolt of lightning followed almost immediately by a loud crash of thunder lit the sky. The dark room was illuminated just long enough for Bruce to see a tear fall from the girl's face.

"Who are you?" Batman asked. "And also, if you're not Kryptonian, then what?"

"It's a long story… Do you really want the whole thing?" The girl asked.
    "That's a riddle?"
    "Crap."
"Looks like we're dealing with The Riddler."

wow, panther was half correct! this corrine is susceptible to kryptonite, yet not entirely kryptonian? i'm really interested to know her story. i also want to know who this voice is. descriptions are better as well. you'll get better over time, of course. i'm excited to see where you'll take this story!

on another note, i'm glad you enjoyed my Legacys fanfic. sometimes, the best ending isn't a happy or resolved one. and, of course, since it wasn't totally resolved, it leaves an opening for a sequel.

I'm probably going to botch the story from here on out, so I apologize.

To avoid confusion i'll just let you know that the stuff that's italicized in the first few parts is flash backs and it's what she's telling Bruce and Terry...

    -----------------------------------------------

    "It was a year ago…"

    -----------------------------------------------

A girl with light blue hair and silver eyes stood at the 'beach' on Tendax. The girl was maybe fifteen and rather small for her age. The sun hit a green ring on her finger and it shone brightly.

Anger and hatred filled the girls eyes. She removed the ring from her finger and threw it into the air, the sun illuminated the lantern symbol on the ring. She used her heat vision and the ring

"Corrine! Why did you do that?!" A voice said behind her. Corrine spun around.

"I don't want to be a Green Lantern! I've told you that before, mother!"

"You were born DESTINED to be a Green Lantern. That is what you will become!" Corrine's mother shouted.

"NO! I was BORN to be Kryptonian!"

    "You are only half Kryptonian!"

"And you're not my real mother." Corrine growled. The girl's mother looked shocked.

"You don't know that for sure! You don't even know for sure you're even part Kryptonian."

"How else could I do this?" Corrine jumped into the air and hovered there. "I'm outta here. I'm going to find my real parents."

    "You'll never find them."

"And why not?" Corrine asked indignantly.

"They died." The mother said simply. She walked into a nearby building, no longer caring about the girl.

    Corrine growled and flew away.

    -----------------------------------------------

Corrine arrived on Earth a few days later in a town called Gotham. This wasn't the type of city she'd wanted to find, but, obviously, she'd have to deal.

In the first couple of days she ended up in building. The moment she entered…

    "Hello Corrine." THE voice said.

    "Who… Who's there?" Corrine asked.

"Corrine… Corrine Mitchell, I believe. Correct?"

"What do you want?" Corrine shouted.

    "I want you."

"That sounds EXTRMELY - " She was cut off by several mean coming in holding glowing green rocks. Corrine almost immediately fell to the ground.

"Kryptonite. Too much of it will kill you, you know." THE voice said.

"Make it stop! I'll do anything! Just take it away!" Corrine shouted. The men ran from the room.

"Now it's your turn to do something for me." THE voice said, manipulatively. A picture came through a scanner. "This person has gotten in the way. I need you to dispose of her."

The picture was of a petite girl with flaming red hair.

"And why if I don't?" Corrine asked.

"Simple." One of the men came back in still holding a piece of kryptonite. Corrine gripped the edge of the table.

"FINE! I'll do it! But only once."

"You are sadly mistaken, Corrine. As long as I have so much kryptonite, you are at my disposal. I own you."

"NO one owns me." Corrine growled, as the man left the room.

"You are mistaken. My men are everywhere in the city. You make one wrong move, and I'll kill you."

    Corrine took a deep breath.

    "NO ONE owns me."

"I own you." THE voice stated.

    "I have my own identity."

"I own your identity." THE voice growled. "Now GO. Dispose of the girl!"

    Corrine flew from the building.

    -----------------------------------------------

Corrine disposed of person after person. Each time, Cap, THE voice, promised to return her identity. He never did. This went on for about a year.

One day Corrine came into the building and entered the meeting place, the white room.

"Alright. I'm here. Who's today's victim." Her voice was full of sorrow.

"No victim yet. A present." THE voice said. One of the minions, the men who did Cap's bidding, came running out and handed her a silver bracelet, then scurried away again.

"Why are you giving me a bracelet?" Corrine asked.

"It's a utility bracelet. Several features. Find them out for yourself."

"Why can't I see you?" Corrine asked, putting the bracelet on.

    "Because."

    "Because why?"

"Because you're too curious, now shut up. You may leave, tomorrow you'll receive your biggest assignment yet."

    -----------------------------------------------

The next day, Corrine came in.

"Alright. I'm here." She stated, walking into the white room.

    "This is your last assignment."

"I've heard THAT before." Corrine growled.

"You'll be dead by the end of it." The voice stated. Corrine's eyebrows shot up.

    "Really now?" She said.

A picture came through a slot on the black speaker. All that was there was the red bat sign.

"I'm supposed to kill BATMAN?" Corrine shouted. "Not even STALKER could do that!"

"Stalker was incompetent." THE voice stated. "Besides. You're a Kyrptonian."

    "I'm half."

    "Same thing. Now go!"

"Batman's the good guy! I won't kill him!" Corrine shouted. As usual when Corrine objected, argued, or disobeyed, the men came rushing out with kryptonite.

"I still own the kryptonite. You WILL kill the bat." THE voice said.

    "No! Please!"

"I OWN YOU CORRINE!!! DO AS I SAY… or die."

    Corrine lay on the ground.

"I'll do it." She said weakly. The men rushed away. Corrine lay on the ground.

"It's good to see you are competent enough to obey your owner. Now go."

    -----------------------------------------------

Corrine looked at Batman and Bruce. They stared back at her.

    Sympathy. Right. She thought.

"What's the other half." Bruce said. It wasn't really a question, it was a demand.

"It's really not important." Corrine said hastily, shaking her head.

"That makes me think it is." Bruce pointed out.

'Why don't you just tell him! I'm sure he'd be very interested to know that you are half - '

Shut up. Just shut up right now.

    'I'd rather not.'

"Well?" Batman asked. "What's the other half?"

"It's not important. Ask a different question."

"Why don’t you just leave Gotham and get away from THE voice, or Cap or whatever you call him." Batman asked.

"I can't. NO matter where I go, he finds me. I've tried leaving, every time they find me." Corrine sighed, "I'm really not a bad person, just right now, I'm fearing for my life." Her eyes flicked to the lead box containing the kryptonite.

"Where are you staying?" Bruce asked.

"Any roof I can find, really." Corrine stated sadly.

"Why don't you stay here tonight."

    'Sympathy?'

    Sympathy

    "Thank you." Corrine said quietly.

"You're going to let her stay HERE!" Batman exclaimed. Bruce nodded, "You are a very sick individual, old man." Batman stalked from the room.
    "That's a riddle?"
    "Crap."
"Looks like we're dealing with The Riddler."
    "Crap."
    "This is gonne be annoying..."

Corrine stared into the pitch blackness. A cold shiver ran down her spine. She spun around where she hovered.

"Corrine…" A voice said. Corrine looked around.

"Who… Who is that?" Corrine asked loudly, "Who's there?"

"Corrine…" That same voice said again.

"I'm not scared of you!" She shouted.

A pair of sliver eyes, not unlike her own appeared in the darkness. She stared at them, unable to look away.

    "Who are you!?" She shouted.

"A wind is about to blow." The same voice said. A cold gush of air swirled through the area. Corrine's hair whipped around her face.

The eyes melted away leaving Corrine alone in complete darkness.

    -----------------------------------------------

Corrine woke in the middle of the night and let out a loud scream. Her entire body was drenched with sweat and tears were streaming down her face.

Bruce came rushing in - well as fast as an old man with a cane can rush.

"What's wrong, Corrine?!" He asked. Corrine took a deep breath and stared forward. "Corrine?"

"Yeah. I'm fine. Sorry. I was thinking." She lied.

Bruce gave her a sympathetic look.

Moonlight filtered in from the open window. Just with that much light, Bruce could see tears streaming down the girl's face.

"Is there anything I can get you?" He asked, awkwardly. Corrine shook her head.

"I'm OK now. Thanks anyway Mr. Wayne." Bruce nodded and left the room.

    -----------------------------------------------

"Corrine?" Bruce said the next morning as the girl came down stairs. "This arrived for you early this morning."

"Wait… For… Me? Who knows I'm staying here?" Corrine asked, not reaching for the small package which Bruce held in his hand.

"No one. That's why it's a bit odd." He handed her the package.

Corrine looked at it for a moment and tried to use her x-ray vision. The attempt was in vain.

"Lead lined…" She muttered. Carefully she opened it.

    Two small gold pins lay in a black velvet box. One was a pair of foot prints, the other was a pair of eyes with ruby irises. Each one was attached to a card. In gold script the card to which the footprints were pinned to said;

I am always two steps ahead.

    The other said in the same gold script;

    I am always watching.

Suddenly the pins starting sparking and the ruby began blinking. Both pins exploded as Corrine dropped them to the ground. She jumped into the air and blew out the flames. She hovered in the air for a moment before lowering back down. Her breath was coming in short spurts and her heart was racing.

"Are you alri--" Bruce started, but was cut off when someone knocked on the door. Corrine touched a button on her bracelet and cloaked herself.

Bruce hobbled over and answered the door. One of THE voice's minions stood there with a large block of kryptonite.

"May I help you?" Bruce asked, finding himself unable to tear his eyes away from the rock.

The man pushed passed Bruce and walked into the mansion. He set the block of green rock on the ground and waited.

    -----------------------------------------------

Corrine got halfway to the stairs.

    'Work harder, dam..'

    SHUT UP ALREADY!!!!

She collapsed in a heap. Her bracelet was no longer working for some reason. She was uncloaked and lying there, nearly dying and completely helpless.

'You know. Had you accepted the other half of your blood you wouldn't have had to worry about this. We could have become a Green Lantern and stayed with the other…'

Do you realize you just spoke in third person? You are not another personality! You are my conscience! You do not control me! It is not a 'we' it is a…

'You just keep saying that, sistah, just like the therapist told ya.'

    -----------------------------------------------

Bruce watched as the man who had barged into the house walked over and scooped Corrine into his arms.

Another man rushed in and grabbed the Kryptonite. They both started to leave.

    "ACE!" Bruce shouted.
The dog rushed in. Bruce told him to block the door. The obedient do did so.

"Excuse me gentlemen." Bruce said, calmly. "Where do you think you're going with her?"

"Following orders." One man said. He pulled a tazer out of his pocket and shocked the dog.

The men left, leaving Bruce behind, and ignoring his protests.

    -----------------------------------------------

"I want my life back!" Corrine asked as loudly as she could from where she sat, chained to the floor by kryptonite laced chains. Her energy was draining rapidly from her attempts to break the chains.

"I'll give it back. After you kill Batman." THE voice said.

"No. I won't kill him." She responded.

The floor of the room surged with electricity and Corrine screamed in pain.

"Kill Batman." THE voice said coolly.

"Why do you want him dead so badly anyway?" Corrine asked more weakly then before.

"It's not of importance. He's just.. a bother." THE voice replied. "It's your job to dispose of him."

"Well find another minion, because I won't kill him." Corrine said.

"Oh. I think you will." THE voice said.

'You realize you have to use your powers to get out of here.' The annoying voice said in the back of Corrine's mind.

    I should. But I can't.

    'Oh? Why not?'

It's called a promise. I keep my promises. Especially the ones I made to the Oans.

'Your exact promise was, 'I will not use the power for evil, nor any other time, unless left without any other choice.' How do you like 'dem apples?'

Fine. But if the Oans come and take the power away, I'm blaming my 'dear sweet' conscience.

    -----------------------------------------------

A green light filled the room and took the form of a blow torch. A blue light shot forth from the end and melted the chains. It then morphed into the shape of a human body. Corrine stumbled in and flew off.

    "DAMNIT!" THE voice yelled.

Minions began rushing around outside trying to see where the girl was headed. It was in vain, the girl, still encased in the solid light flew too fast to be seen.

"Fools! Get in here and find out what the light was!" THE voice shouted. The minions went back inside and scurried around.

"I will find you Corrine. You will be mine. You are mine." The voice muttered, before breaking into hysterical, evil laughter.

    -----------------------------------------------

The green encasement dissolved and Corrine flew on her own.

'Nice job. Not very imaginative, but nice none the less.'

I haven't done that in a long time, give me a break. Corrine responded.

'Still! A blow torch? I was thinking more along the lines of a chisel and hammer, or a jackhammer, or a laser!'

Chisel and hammer? How retro is that!

Corrine landed on top of a building and contemplated her situation.

    1) THE voice could easily kill her unless she killed Batman.

    2) THE voice seems to find her where ever she goes, no matter what. She doesn't know how.

'The bracelet…' Corrine's conscience told her quietly, sounding eerie.

    What about it?

'I CAN NOT believe we are the same persun!'

There you go with the WE stuff again!

'Think really hard. He never tried to find you before he gave you the bracelet, right?'

    Well I suppose not.

'But ever since he gave you the bracelet, if you don't report back he finds you, right?'

Well yes… Get to the point.

'I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO! YOU SHOULD HAVE FIGURED IT-'

It has a tracking signal of sorts on it!

    'GOOD JOB!'

I'm heading to Mr. Wayne's house. Maybe he can help somehow. Or knows somebody who can help…

Ummmm... a bit PG... or perhaps PG13?

OK! next part! sorry it took so long.... and i hope I don't get smacked for making my story go down hill...

    -----------------------------------------------

Corrine zoomed at top speed toward Wayne Manor.

'STOP!' Her conscience ordered. She did so, stopping in mid air. 'Why the heck are you still wearing the bracelet?!'

OH! Corrine tore the bracelet from her wrist and threw it into the air, then used her heat vision to melt it.

    'Good job!'

    Shut up.

She arrived at the manor and broke down the front door.

"MR. WAYNE!" She shouted. Bruce hobbled upstairs from what must be the batcave.

    "Corrine." He said. "You're back."

    Corrine nodded.

"Mr. Wayne. I've never had to ask this of anyone, but I have to ask this of you. I need your help." She said.

"Come down here with me, I'll see what I can do." He lead her into the cave.

"Wow…" She muttered, looking around the cave.

"Yes, yes. It's quite impressive." Bruce said, walking over to the monitor. "Terry. She's here, don't worry about finding her."

"Alright. There's a group of Jokerz beating up on a helpless old lady, I'll take care of this, then I have things to do." Batman's voice came over the computer.

Corrine hovered in the air behind Bruce. She watched on the vid screen as Batman took care of the gang.

"Now then. What's the problem, besides what happened before." Bruce asked.

Katharina soared back and forth in a straight line, as though pacing.

    -----------------------------------------------

'Well. Tell him about it.' Corrine's conscience said.

"It's hard to explain." Corrine said quietly, still pacing.

    "Just try." Bruce said.

'It's not hard. Just tell him - '

"I'm an Oan." She said bluntly.

    'I DIDN'T ACTUALLY MEAN FOR...'

    SHUT UP!

"Oan? As in the creators of - "

"The Green Lantern Corps. But, mind you, I'm not full Oan."

"So? What's the problem." Batman asked, walking into the room.

"Well. As I've told you both before, I was a Green Lantern. I was given the ring as a baby. I wore it until last year and in that time, the powers of the ring somehow… Absorbed into me. I'm still able to use the power of the ring, even without the actual ring." Corrine took a deep breath, "All would have been fine until I… well accidentally killed a person. It was purely accidental, I swear it! A man had stolen the ring from me…"

    -----------------------------------------------

"Stop right there!" Corrine shouted, pointing a finger at a man. Behind him, an active volcano on a planet in another galaxy spurted a bit of lava. The man holds in his hand the green lantern ring.

"What are you going to do if I don't, Girlie?" The man asked. "You can't do nothing without this here ring!" He shouted, his pure red eyes blazing. He threw it into the volcano, then raced forward, brandishing a laser gun. He pulled the trigger and…

A green force field appeared around Corrine. More light engulfed the gun, turned it around and aimed it at the man.

Corrine looked to be struggling with something, as though she couldn't control what was happening.

    The trigger was pulled and…

    -----------------------------------------------

"I tried to stop what was happening… but… I couldn't… I tried…" Corrine stammered, tears were streaming slowly down her cheeks. Slowly she regained her cool and continued.

"The Oans, banned me from ever using the power again, but, I disobeyed them. I used my power, and gained control over it. The Oans, somehow, never found out what I was doing. I stopped using it completely after I learned to control it, and have kept the promise to the Oans… Until today."

    -----------------------------------------------

Corrine went on to explain what had happened to her before arriving at the manor.

"And now Cap knows that I have Green Lantern powers or at least he should as soon as he figures out what the light was… and… and… I'm scared…"

    Batman stepped forward awkwardly.

"It'll be ok. I suppose… I'll protect you from… 'The voice'" He says.

"You are such a twip, you know that?" Corrine practically spat, her mood changing visibly. "If I can't protect myself why should I expect anyone else to?"

"Then why are you here?" Bruce asked.

"I merely want your help finding out who - or what - the voice is. That way I know what I'm dealing with."

"I see. How are we to help you?"

"Simply…" Corrine said, then told them her plan.

    -----------------------------------------------

"THE voice", or "Cap", or whatever you wish to call him, sat in a dark room. The only source of light coming from the monitor in front of him.

On the screen was the white room which Corrine used to go to. It was frozen on a close up of her face.

"Sir?" A small voice behind him squeaked.

"WHAT IS IT?!" Cap roared. He spun around in his chair, though his features were still shrouded in darkness.

"We've found the girl, sir." The man squeaked again, stepping back away from him.

"Really? Where is she?" The man asked, his mood changing drastically.

"Wayne Manor sir. Sir if I may, why are you so intent on finding her? She has begun to refuse what you say, so why keep her alive? She's not even that clean in her assassinations. She's useless, and would surely ruin your plans - " The man was cut off as Cap stood up and held the man up against the wall by his neck.

"YOU WILL NEVER SPEAK BADLY OF CORRINE AGAIN!" He shouted. The man against the wall whimpered. "THE GIRL IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOU COULD EVER FATHOM!" He slammed the guy against the wall, "DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME?" The man merely whimpered, "I SAID DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME?!"

"Y… Yes sir." The man said.

"Good." Cap said, allowing the man down to the ground. The man began to scurry out the door but Cap yelled for him to come back.

"I forgot to give you something." Cap said, siting back down in his chair.

"What is that sir?" The man asked.

Cap's eyes glowed red for a moment before shooting rays at the man, severing his head.

He turned around and faced the monitor again. Corrine's face glowed there still.

    "Daughter…" He muttered.

    -----------------------------------------------

sorry if I offended anyone with that last part...

Corrine grinned at the men after telling them her plan. She leaned back as se hovered in the air. Both Bruce and Batman looked at her skeptically.

"So really you just need me outside, 'just in case.'" Batman said.

"Pretty much. I told you. If I can't help myself, I can't trust others to help me." Corrine said.

"But I thought we were supposed to, like, find out who he was so we could tell you so you would know who you were dealing with." Batman said.

Corrine paused before responding, "I did say that didn't I..?" The men nodded. "Well.. I lied." She grinned at them. "Now then. I'm ready. Are you, Batman?"

"I'm always ready to play the hero." Batman said. Corrine looked at him for a moment before she began laughing hysterically.

"Whatever, let's go." She looked at Mr. Wayne. "Bye Mr. Wayne." She jumped up and flew out of the cave with the Batmobile on her heels.

"How is it you can fly faster than the batmobile?" Batman asked.

"Simple. I have no technological restrictions. It's all natural for me. Well, except my hair color." She said, winking at him.

    "Hair color?" Batman repeated.

"Don't ask questions to which you will never understand the answer." Corrine retorted. "Now come on. The building is right down here." She did a back flip and dove below the clouds, landing neatly on top of the building.

"Show off." Batman muttered. He dropped out of the batmobile and landed beside her.

"Stay here." Corrine said she jumped down off the roof and walked inside the building.

"Corrine. What a pleasant surprise. We didn't expect you to come back." Cap's voice said, sending chills down Corrine's spine. "You shouldn't have come back at all. I now have to kill you for disobeying…"

"Disobeying you? How can you say that? Batman is dead. Dead, dead, dead." Corrine said.

There was a long pause, and then, "You killed him as per orders?"

"Exactly, Cap. Now do I get my life back?" Corrine asked. She crossed her legs and hovered in the air.

    "Not exactly." He said.

A door opened on the opposite side of the room. Corrine flew forward a ways to see what it was. A man came out. He had short black hair and silver eyes exactly like Corrine's.

Corrine stared at him for a minute before realizing he wasn't walking, he was hovering above ground. She flew up toward the ceiling trying to get away.

    "Who are you?!" She shouted.

"Isn't it obvious. Don't you see the family resemblance. I'm your father." He said.

Corrine gasped and a hand flew to her mouth. She soared toward the ground but stayed up so she was eye level with the man.

"No. MY father is dead." Corrine said. "Both of my real parents are dead.

"Hardly. I'm still quite alive. Of course your mother is dead. I killed her." He said, "She was in the way. I had to get rid of her so I could complete my plan."

"Your plan?" Corrine nearly spat in rage. "What was your PLAN?"

"Why. To take over the Green Lantern Corps of course." He answered simply. "Being able to use them at will would be the ultimate power."

"But why kill my mother?" Corrine asked, hatred in her eyes. "Why?"

"Because she knew too much." Cap answered. "Now then. I hate to do this, but I have to kill you. I have just been informed Batman is outside. You lied to me. You disobeyed me. You are too much of a do-gooder. I had hoped you would help me complete my plan. But obviously not. Goodbye, my daughter." He snapped his fingers and twelve of his minions came in, each holding large chunks of kryptonite. Almost immediately Corrine collapsed to the ground.

    "Batman!" She yelled weakly.

Batman swooshed into the room and over to where Corrine lay.

"No… Stop… Cap…" She said weakly then blacked out.

Batman looked torn for a minute before he saw Cap escaping. He flew over and stood in front of him.

    -----------------------------------------------

A green light engulfed Corrine even though she was unconscious. The light formed a sword. The sword swung around in the air and finally stopped right in front of one of the minions.

A scream was heard followed by several others. A loud crash, and then, as the dust settled, twelve corpses and slivers of kryptonite lay on the ground. The green light scooped up the kryptonite and carried off to… where ever.

Corrine sat up, a dazed look on her face and saw Cap and Batman fighting. Cap had the upper hand, as he was much stronger than Batman. HE pinned Batman against the wall by his neck and squeezed tighter and tighter.

Light was suddenly wrapped around Cap's neck. It formed, slowly, into a noose. Batman shook his head dazed as Cap let go of his neck.

"Corrine don't!" He shouted as loudly as he could. Corrine looked over at him, her eyes glassy and confused.

Batman shot his rockets and knocked Corrine over. The light disappeared and Cap flew to the ground.

    "I'm sorry, Batman." Corrine said.

Batman got off of her and they both walked over to Cap. Corrine lifted him up and held him against the wall by the shirt collar.

    "Why?" She growled.

"Why? my dear daughter?" Cap asked.

"Why kill my mother? Why take over the Green Lantern Corps? Why make me your slave? Why doesn't kryptonite effect you? WHY?!" Corrine yelled.

"Daughter… Chill. You're being over dramatic. I'll answer all your questions." He said.

Corrine sighed and let him go, but was ready to do anything to keep him under control.

"I killed your mother because she tried to stop me. I couldn't have people getting in my way, no matter how much I cared for them. I told you why I wanted to take over the Corps. Ultimate power." Cap said.

Corrine sat back, hovering in mid air, "Go on. Why did you make me your slave?"

"To test your loyalty. I had to see if, when I needed it, you would help me. When you disobeyed me with the Bat and several others I've found," He glared at Corrine, and her cocky smirk faltered slightly, "I decided you wouldn't so I found that you were of no use."

"But don't you love me?" Corrine asked quietly. "I'm your daughter for God's sake."

"I don't care for anyone anymore. I merely wanted your help. But I suppose that is irrelevant now, isn't it."

"Why doesn't the kryptonite harm you?" Corrine asked.

"Simple. I'm not full Kryptonite. Just like you." Cap said.

"But it hurts me. It hurts me badly." Corrine stated.

"True, perhaps it's because I'm half human." Cap said, "I never really thought about it. Now that we've had a little a little family heart to heart, I have a favor to ask."

"A favor? HA! Like I'd do-"

"Help me. Help me and I will make you my heir. You will have full reign over the corps after I die." Cap said. Obviously only saying so to keep himself alive.

"I don't want to be your heir. I do not want to be one of your mindless minions. I want to be your daughter. I want a family. I don't want full reign over anything." Corrine said, "And if I the only way I can have that is to help you. Then I have to stop you. And it seems the only way to stop you is to kill you. Goodbye father."

Green Light appeared above Corrine's head and formed into a pair of hands. They wrapped around Cap's neck and squeezed.

"Corrine! Don't do this!" Batman yelled, trying to get her to stop.

"He's hurt people Batman. This is all how it's going to end." She said, "With him, then me." She formed a cage around Batman and continued squeezing Cap's neck.

A few minutes later Cap lay on the ground, dying.

"You think you've won daughter? The building is set with explosives. You're going to die, no matter what." Cap said, then his eyes rolled back into his head.

    The cage around Batman disappeared.

"Corrine! We have to get out of here!" He shouted. Corrine shook her head.

"No. I've killed innumerable people. I deserve this. You go." She said.

"I'm not leaving you!" He shouted.

An explosion nearby startled both of them. Batman held out his hand to the distraught girl. She shook her head.

"No. This is where I'm supposed to be. Thank you Batman." She formed a green bubble around Batman and jettisoned him back to Wayne Manor.

    Epilogue

Two days later Bruce and Terry were talking in the Batcave.

"I went back after, but… The building was destroyed. I found her father's body and the twelve guys she killed. But I couldn't find Corrine's. She's gone."

"Maybe. She might have escaped." Bruce said.

"I doubt it. She had a death wish. She wasn't getting out of there." Terry said.

Bruce nodded, "It's not your fault."

    "I know…" Terry said quietly.

Hovering in the sky above Wayne Manor a girl watched the scene playing out below ground. Her ebony hair whipping around in the wind and shining in the fading sunlight.

Her clothes and skin are burned badly and she looks weak.

A small tear fell from her silver eye. She turned around and flew into the sunset.
    "That's a riddle?"
    "Crap."
"Looks like we're dealing with The Riddler."
    "Crap."
    "This is gonne be annoying..."
    "Crap..."
