I'm pretty sure Belchie saw it; I'll let him take it from here.
Did ANYONE here ever see the infamous "Torquemada/Inquisistion" sketch on Histeria? If so, what happened?
I'd appreciate any info...

--but only once. It seems some crybabies (Catholics, I'm told; I've said for years they're nuts--) put up a fuss and nixed it, but I'm fuzzy on the details. It was replaced with the (IMHO not quite as funny) Custer sketch and the "Veni, vidi, vici" gag. Another couple of sketches on Cleopatra were taken out of "Megalomaniacs" and put into "Loud Kiddington's Ancient History", along with the Pompeii sketch (which of course doesn't mention the flourishing brothels of that ancient town) and the Hannibal sketch (with added commentary by Lydia Karaoke that the guy was probably black, but I bet someone would have gotten mad if, say, a caricature of Redd Foxx or Eddie Murphy were used).
Anyway, my memory isn't too good, as that one aired back in '98 and hasn't seen daylight since (at least "Vomitorium" and "My Buddy Stalin" got 2 or 3 plays each) ...but Rob Paulsen voiced the leader of the Inquisition and Toast got stretched on the rack at one point. I'd hoped Encyclopedia Histeria had a transcript, but no luck. I don't recall anything horribly offensive, but then again an anti-Jewish defamation league had two A! shorts with Walter Wolf cut from KWB rotation (both air on CN, however), so there you go....
It's a good thing these groups don't have similar power over, say, AMC or TCM. Remember the Torquemada sketch from History of the World Part I?

Thanks for the info. Catholics can be such airheads, I'm sorry to say, it was not until '96-97 that the church admitted that the Earth revolves around the sun, as another example. The Catholic Leauge apparently does not want the world to know the Catholic are not as high and mighty as they seem....I find that pathetic. Encylopedia Histeria cannot get a transscript, as no one, not even the webmaster, has seen the sketch...
...I apologize to any Catholics here. My grudge is against the Catholic Leauge, not any Catholics here.

Yea, I, said webmaster of Encyclopedia Histeria, have never seen the sketch. Would love to have it on tape. Ruegger emailed me a week ago, I was hoping to ask him about it, but I haven't gotten a reply from him from my first reply. Ah, well.
Oh, and the irony of it all is, I was raised Catholic.

...but now i'm just an irreligious son of a buck.
I don't think the majority of Catholics care, the protestors were probably a small, vocal, minority (like most are). I'm Catholic, but I'll laugh at a good joke. I think that one sketch in "History of the World Part I" is hilarious...

G.A.C. is coming! And it will destroy us all....or not, you'll have to wait and see.
Was that the one titled Convert Or Die? With Melman as Torquemada? Now I think of it I might have a vague memory; but don't get your hopes up; I'd be less help than Belchie. Sorry. Oh, if I'd only been turned on to toons back then. *shrugs* I think I'll go beat my head into the wall now ;\

MELMAN might have been Torquemada?! Now I can't imagine that; it's just to scary. But hey, Nftnat, at least you MIGHT have seen the sketch, I never got to see it at all...![]()
Don't bonk your head, we have Jowy Blight's hanging rope to put you outta your misery....I know I nearly used it when I heard about Fabio the animator in another topic...
