    Recycled stock footage promo poll!

    Like This Thread!
I was just thinking....I know I keep making fun of KWB's choice over the years to use the same seemingly several bits of footage of the Warners singing/dancing in place, Pinky laughing, and Yakko or Sylvester pointing at something jerkily (and more recently, footage of the various characters in the current series running amok on that CGI WB Studios backdrop with the show-theme-of-the-week being flashed on screen)....but I figured that despite this bargain-basement approach to promoting one's shows, there were a *few* somewhat amusing stock footage-based promos that came down the pike...so, I figure I'll ask: what were your favorite and least favorite KWB stock-footage-usin' promos?

    Favorites:
    - that promo with the MiB busting Superman (and Brainiac) for not being a "registered alien"
    - Brain engaging in a fight with that Charmander from Pokemon (despite the uncharacteristicness of him flinging himself unarmed against a fire-breathing dragon, it was still sort of amusing)
    - the "Y2K bug" Animaniacs promo
    - the Worms complaining about not fitting in with the "hairy critters" theme, and K "taking care" of it...
    - the Worms singing about the joys of java
    - Batman and Robin' "Pokemon" battle playing
    - Batman playing a video game of him trying to shoot down Supes a la "space invaders"
    - any promo mentioning a "new episode" of A!/PatB, I guess :-)

    *Least* Favorites:
    - any of the promos featuring a celebrity guest star (NSync/Barenaked Ladies/etc.); still trying to shake the image of Superman and Kalibak doing the "mambo" to Lou Bega's singing
    - that "we flush you a merry Christmas" promo that ran during the PatB Christmas special's rerun a few years ago (idiocy involving Wakko, a toilet, Sylvester and Meowth)
    - what little I saw of that "Pokemon welcome wagon" thing from when Pokemon was first added to the fall lineup (after being added as a mid-season replacement to KWB), with the characters all looking like/going gaga over Pokemon
    - promos suggesting that what we *really* want to see is our favorite eps sliced up for that Cat and Bunny Tax Relief-y Dinky Refund Not-Even-Enough-For-Dinner-and-a-Movie Show thingamajig...
    - the infamous Thanksgiving Day promo with the KWB gang (the A!, MiB, Batsy, etc.) all getting food poisoning(?) and apparently throwing up

Feel free to add your own....or not....or such....

    -B.
    Really getting bored right now...

New episode & welcome wagon, no contest. Anything with P*k*m*n is automatically DQ'd & I like TBCS for what it did, introduce me to eps of A! & PE&tB on which this late-comer would've otherwise totally missed out. But if you really wanna post a poll, there's ways to do that.
If you don't like your options, make another option.

For me it has to be Y-TV's TTA promotion that ran only once or twice.

Y-TV wanted to expaned the age of TTA views so they can get a wider selection of advertisers for the slot. They made a commercial inhouse which poked fun at those hischool shows (with a bit of a soap atmosphere) by taking scenes out of context and redoing the audio track (they even doctored a few frames). The problem was the joke went over WB's head they though Y-TV was actully tring to sell TTA as a hischool show thus the commercial was pulled.

    RSF promos

Brianatra, I recall you once mentioned you liked a Black History month promo from (I think) last year. You complimented how well the vocal track meshed with the RSF of J and Max.

The infamous Thanskgiving Day promo involved flatulence rather than food poisoning. Some people threw a fit over it, and it was yanked. Though the thought of Superman asking Lois to pull his finger still is branded upon my mind....

My favorite? Oh...hmmm...I rather liked the Pokemon battle with Ash vs. Father Time. He called out Big Fat Baby, who used a copious drool attack against the young trainer. I also got a kick out of the Pepper Mills/Toast feminist take on Histeria ("Thomas Jefferson? What about Thomas Jeffersdaughter?") It was funny because some of those dames--excuse me, "womyn"--actually think that way.

Back in the old old days when KWB aired nothing but quality programming (!!!), they had those old "Crazy Careers" things, which, while reusing footage, were true to the spirit and style of the shows (with clever lyrics, bouncy tunes, and being mildly educational without shoveling it down the audience's throat). I'd say those were nearly on par with my all-time favorite KWB stock-footage promo, the "Put a Brain in the White House" campaign. I still have the song memorized!

    Least favorite:
The Thanksgiving thingee was *THE* low point. The series of ads with various KWB stars catching "Pokefever" or whatever it was were fairly displeasing too.

    Guess that's 'bout it. =)

Egad, those days I remember well. But there's one you didn't mention: Do you remember the KWB Brain Drains?

Why Brain? What do we want to do tomorrow night? Throw a slumber party?
