Well...unofficially is the word! What "starts" the summer for our Canadian members? Or from other parts of the world, as I've seen members here from Australia, Paris, Denmark, and I am sure other!
Well, unofficially anyway...
Seeing as Memorial Day Weekend unofficially starts the summer season... just thought I'd take a moment to wish everyone a happy summer.
Also, something I've decided to do this summer, along with bringing you the weekly box office report... is to do a weekly poll, with all the week's new releases... where you guys will predict which movie you think will do the best. The polls will open on Sunday, and close on Saturday... hopefully it'll go over well =)
Don't you people understand!?!

Don't worry. The summer movie season starts this weekend for us, too. BTW - I predict PEARL HARBOR will gorss a dissapointing 75 million over the 4 days. Reviews for themovie have been horrible. Go to http://www.rotten-tomatoes.com to see what I mean.

Reinbold's Rule - the absolute best moments of a movie go into the trailer. Therefore, if the trailers are awful, the movie will be, too. Never watch a movie that never includes any scenes used in the movie in any trailers.
Based on this, Pearl Harbor must be deeply insipid.
A side note - Disney has been ridiculed mercilessly for insisting that non-military invitees to the premiere wear "crisp aloha." There's no such thing. Aloha wear is by definition not crisp. The invitees wore pretty much whatever they wanted to.

I've been to rotten-tomatoes.com in the past (haven't read their Pearl Harbor review yet) but always thought they were just a nit pick site. Kinda like that "Christian" review site I gave you the link to for Shrek (I still gotta post that on the WF boards!). They go to movies to look for the negative things to ***** about. Rottentomatoes.com does the same. That's not a real review.Originally posted by DickGrayson

If the movie is getting genuine negative reviews, this will be quite disappointing! From the trailers I have seen of Pearl Harbor, it looked good and like something I would want to see at the theater. I might wait for the DVD if it gets negative reviews.
FORGET IT! I don't think I will wait for the DVD either. I buzzed over to Ebert's site, who gave it a dismal review as well, and he talked about the banal love story that ruins the movie. Hell, that's what ruined Titanic, that banal love story. I cannot stand to watch that movie any more and refuse to watch anything like it. Why did Hollywood have to do this to us, AGAIN!
Here is the link to Eberts review for the curious:

Could ya post that Christian website review. I might know which one your tlaking about. CARTOON RESEARCH did a little newsblurb on them awhile back and they had some hilarious comments about certain movies and how "unholy" they were.

But tomorrow (or is that later today?) And it will be on the WF General animation board! So come on over, WBers, and see what you've been missing! Come one and all! Now it is time for me to go to BED!
