-Meek Heroine
From Aeris to Talim, this cliche (predominantly Japanese) consists of young, attractive, soft-spoken, submissive, meek heroines. I imagine these are there to appeal to your standard video game nerds... since all they really want is a woman who will love them unconditionally while hardly ever speaking.
-Sewer Level
From each and every incarnation of the TMNT games to Hunter the Reckoning, no videogame cliche is as tried and true as the drab, boxy, colorless sewer level. Except perhaps...
-Ninjas have kidnapped your girlfriend/President
Double Dragon was one of the more notable titles to use this. Many games use either this plot or a slight variation. Bad Dudes is perhaps the most infamous. Often, unlikely people come to the girlfriend/President's aide, such as her fiancee, his friend, some punk rocker, and occasionally even the mayor. And as the villians of Final Fight learned the hard way, you'd best not piss off the mayor.
-We've secretly developed a high-tech space ship (two, if you're playing with a friend). Now you have to singlehandedly defeat this alien armada. Good luck
Hey, here's an idea, jackass. How about you build more than one?
