LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Having cornered the market on TV game shows, the Game Show Network is going after a potentially much larger audience: video gamers.
The cable channel has bought two video game-oriented series, "Game Sauce" and "Gamer.tv," from a British production company also called Gamer.tv. They're scheduled to make their debut on in the fall.
"We've been eyeing video games for quite some time, and we were extremely pleased to obtain these two high-end programs," Rich Cronin, president and CEO of the network, tells The Hollywood Reporter.
"Game Sauce" and "Gamer.tv" will air from 5 to 7 p.m. ET Thursdays and repeat on weekends. The Game Show Network will also produce video-game news bits to run during breaks in the shows and is searching for a host for the two-hour block.
The two shows currently air on G4, a network aimed at gamers that is available in about 11 million homes. Vinnie Longobardo, head of programming for G4, says that a larger network snapping up the series "validates the concept of TV for gamers."
Weird, to say the least. (Pathetic, dumb, pointless, "why wasn't this done from the start" comes to mind.)

"Um, when I came on the show, I was under the impression that you could win prizes or money. Not orphaned children."
The State needs to be on DVD... now.
I would be happy about this, had my cable provider not replaced the Game Show Network with *ugh* Country Music Television...![]()
I am a robot....I'm a metal being....HEY!!!!
Gamesauce is all right. Gamer.TV however tends to get their info screwed up. Very sloppy on their behalf considering all the information about video games is handed to them on a silver platter. Personally, Gamer.TV's other shows are much better. Specifically Hi Score.
