Phantasy Star goes PS2.
Though it's not exactly what you'd think.

Following the recent release of the Phantasy Star Collection for the GameBoy Advance, Sega and publisher D3 have announced the re-release of Phantasy Star I, II, and IV on the PlayStation 2. All three titles will be given updated graphics and be released together in a series called 3D Ages, which features other classic Sega titles.
While there has been no word of an official release date, the price for all three Phantasy Star titles for the PS2 has been made clear: 2500 yen (approximately $20 in U.S.D.).
Hmm... re-releases are better than nothing at all. I guess. But I've got to wonder, why isn't Phantasy Star III going to be included in the set?
Hopefully news of the Shining Force series will follow soon.

This is good news. I never got a chance to play any of the games in the Phantasy Star series. I would've liked them to bring the online games to the PS2 instead (You got my hopes up with that title
) but this'll do.
Who knows, if these games sell well on the PS2 Sega might actually try to bring Phantasy Star Online 1 & 2 also...

I'm glad, PS2 owners must really want these after Gamecube got Phantasy Star Online. Share the Love!

Ehh... Not being much of an on-line gamer I'd rather see Sega announce, maybe, something along the lines of PHANTASY STAR V for the PS2 or something.
But Phantasy Star I, II, and IV aren't the only games that are suppose to be in the collection. 3D ages was formed by Sega to bring it's older games to the PSX and PS2 and reportedly the Panzer Dragoon and Shining Force series were among those being looked at. I'd love the chance to finally play Shining Force III, since I can't seem to find a reasonably priced copy of it (the entire thing in really good condition including the manual) for a decent price.

Collection? I thought it said the remakes would be about 2500 yen each.
Oh and the remakes are also coming to the X-Box.
Ohmygawd! This lurker actually changed her avatar after a year with Rabi~en~Rose and she still can't make a decent signature!
