Can you say River City Ransom? Bubble Bobble? Thems be the two I want most.
Seems like old-school's making a gallant return these days. One only has to look at the ton of returning series and characters that are popping up all over the market. Ninja Gaiden's coming back, Rygar's returning, Contra's back (with a GOOD game this time, thank god), Shinobi's kicking ass all over again (though, one can only miss good ol' Joe Musashi...), and even Tojam and Earl have returned to "FUNK" the world up again. Who knows, we might even be seeing "THE ADVENTURES OF BAYOU BILLY ADVANCE" in the near future. *Shudder.*
But anyway, looking on all the fantastic old franchises and characters in the glory days of gaming, what video game character or series would YOU resurrect for a killer comeback?

Personally, I'd love to see Sparkster, the original badass rocket knight opossum, make a return. This guy's game (Rocket Knight Adventures) was great, a truly original and fun platformer that was released back in the glory days of the Genesis. This was definitely one of the best Sonic "clones" to come out for that system, as well. Rocket Knight Adventures spawned off two other sequels, but they weren't able to fully capture the magic of the original. What Sparkster really deserves is a 3D game. Come on... He was Konami's friggin' "mascot" for a time.

Another great game that deserves a comeback is Ristar, an excellent platformer that stars...er, Ristar. This could be considered another Sonic "clone", but the beautiful graphics, levels, and music make it a bit better than many of the Genesis Sonic games, at least in my eyes. A 3D upgrade of this title would be greatly appreciated.

Ah, and then there's Terranigma. It's a shame that most people haven't heard of this great game, since Enix never bothered to release it in America. It was, however, released in Europe and Australia, and I've played the ROM, which is excellent. Terranigma was the third game in Enix's Soul Blazer series, a great RPG saga that interjected real-life events and historical occurances into its three games. Though the first two titles of the Soul Blazer series (Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia) were good, Terranigma was truly the best, and it deserves a next-gen console upgrade. At the very least, Enix could actually bring it over to America... (They've even acknowledged the game's success on their webpage, for cryin' out loud.)
I'll post more games later, when I have time. But for now, please feel free to spill your feelings on all the great franchises and characters that should be ressurected. We can always hope, after all...

Yeah, forgot about River City Ransom. That's actually had plenty of sequels, though only the first NES game actually made it over here.

Streets of Rage. Yeah, I know it was Sega's answer to Final Fight, but it was fun. I loved the second one, and the third one was such a letdown...
If they did a GBA version of Streets of Rage in the same vein & the same length as the second one, I'd be in heaven.

Kid Icarus
In Kid Icarus, I'd have it feature him at about 17 years old. And follow more of a Zelda Oc of Time type Model. I could imagine it now. He has a complete set of almost every arrow you could think of to defeat evil creatures and rescue his father, in the middle of the quest he earns his wings which he uses to deat the final boss and maybe in a few arial battles.
and Double Dragon... I dunno uh use the plot from the old cartoon show. Man that thing was good.

I second that vote for Punch Out! One of the best games for the NES and later the SNES, even without Mike Tyson in the game. Man, that game brought back wonderful memories of me beating on guys like Piston Honda, Soda Popinski, and that damn Bald Bull. I hate Bald Bull, and his stupid finishing move that's real hard to dodge, I think its called the Bull Charge or something. Oh and let's not forget Mike Tyson (or his replacement character after his arrest, Mr. Dream). God he is so freakin powerful. I combo had me on the mat.
I also want R.C. Pro AM for the NES to come back. That game was so fun to play back then, and it was actually challenging. I also liked how your car would be upgraded when you reached later levels. First it was a truck/Jeep, then it turned into a pick-up, and then it turned into a racing car. Great times with this game.
I also want Golgo 13 to make a comeback. This game was awesome. Golgo 13 was a spy who had this huge M-16 sniper rifle that he would snipe guys with. He's like James Bond, but with a sniper rifle. As far as I know, he only came out with two games for the NES (The Lost Episodes and the Mafat Conspiracy), but I think he has some kind of series or OVA over in Japan, so there are probably more games that I don't know about.
This has been Dark Spider....
Buh-za! Chik-ka! Wuh-pa! Teamo Kiyone...o!!!! Oops wrong show....

Damn straight. Kid Icarus is one of those ones everyone always talked of reviving, but never did. I'd love to see it.Originally posted by Chris Sanders MSX

Actually, those seeking some more Double Dragon action might want to check out Rage of the Dragons, a very recent game that's based on the original Double Dragon titles. It's esentially a pure fighting game now, instead of a side-scrolling brawler, but the original Double Dragon guys are in there as playable fighters, along with a host of new characters. I haven't played it personally, but it looks quite good from screenshots (very SNK-like, I'd say).
I wanna see Gunstar Hero make a return, with online play.
These are the games I want to be remade.

Rocket Knight Adventures. Great game. Needs to be in 3D.
If you get put in solitary, it ****ing sucks. I was put in there just because they had me in double-lock maximum security, and it's the most tedious ****ing thing. I can't think of anything more boring. There's a Japanimation cartoon I've been trying to watch on Cartoon Network called Witch Hunter Robin, and that's almost as boring.

As far as a "dream" game, I'd like to see an updated version of Journey to Silius, ā la Mario All Stars, in that the graphics and sound would be improved, but the game would basically still be the same. (the game already has the best tunes I've ever heard on the NES; especially the boss theme!)
I'd also like to see an update of Tetris Attack.
Sega is doing a Mario All Stars thing with Sonic 1-3, sonic and knuckles, Spin Ball, the tetrisie type game, and 3-d blast.(I've reserved it already.) They should remake Mario All Stars for GC. But put in Mario 1-3, Mario World, and Mario 64. I think it's safe to say most people would buy that.As far as a "dream" game, I'd like to see an updated version of Journey to Silius, ā la Mario All Stars, in that the graphics and sound would be improved, but the game would basically still be the same.
