    I'm a pretty heavy, DC fanatic so I don't think I'll be getting a PS2 anytime soon.

If you don't have a Dreamcast..... yer missin' out.

Playstation.... I do wanna play those Final Fantays Chronicle and Anthologys.

    But Zelda64 and Mask.....

Dreamcast is dead John. It's out dated and it's time to move on to Sony. Keep it though because you can play Nintendo, SNES, and Genesis games on it.

I already made the choice several years ago, Playstation. N64 didn't really have any games that interested me, PSX did. I like the Zelda games, but they're just not a good enough reason for me to buy an entire system.

But ultimately it really depends on what kind of games you like. And knowing you like I do, you like RPG's. So lets do the breakdown.

    N64 --
    Zelda: Orcana of Time
    Zelda: M's Mask
    Quest 64
    Ogre Battle 64
    Paper Mario

    Playstation --
    Suikoden I
    Suikoden II
    Grandia
    Lunar I
    Lunar II
    Final Fantasy VII
    FF VIII
    FF IX
    FF Anthology (FF 5 & 6)
FF Chronicles (FF 4 & Chrono Trigger)
    Chrono Cross
    Brigandine
    Final Fantasy Tactics
    Tactics Ogre
    Vanguard Bandits
    Wild Arms
    Wild Arms 2
    Star Ocean 2
    Thousand Arms
    Dragon Warrior VII
    Eternal Eyes
    Kartia: The Word of Fate
    Tactics Ogre
    Hoshigami
    Xenogears
    Tales of Destiny
    Tales of Destiny 2
    Valkyrie Profile
    Saiyuki: Journey West
    Vandal Hearts
    Vandal Hearts II
    The Granstream Saga
    Legend of Dragoon
    Legend of Legaia
    Alundra
    Alundra II
    Arc the Lad Collection
    Breath of Fire III
    Breath of Fire IV
    Shadow Madness
    Legend of Mana
    Saga Frontier
    Threads of Fate
    Vagrant Story

And that's just off the top of my head. I'm sure there are several that I missed.

Crap... that's a really good point.

    I do like RPG's best.

I was thinking this tho... I play game slow as HELL! And the few N64 games you've mentioned have past into immortal legend, while the big list you listed shall pass... into the darkness. I do wanna play the legends.

But I do wanna play Chrono Trigger and Wild ARMs II...

Eventually, I'd like to own both, but it's a matter right now as to which to get first.

Dreamcast is "dead", but will be forever Immortal in my eyes after playing Shenmue II which has stolen my heart, as well as Skies of Arcadia.

Not to mention a slew of others.

Dreamcast is dead.... long live the Dreamcast!

Yes, get both. But which one first. Odds are you'll probably only play the two Zeldas for N64. You might try Paper Mario and Ogre Battle 64 (if you like strategic/tactical RPG's).

But please, for the love of all that is holy, avoid Quest 64 like the plague. It just plain sucks.

For the Playstation (going by what you've said you've enjoyed in the past RPG-wise):

Grandia (might be a little hard to find)
Both Lunars (the first one was just re-released for 19.95, and you can still find the second one)
    Wild Arms 2
FF Anthology (going to be hard to find) and Chronicles (might be a little easier)
    Thousand Arms
(maybe) Breath of Fire 3 & 4 (or you could just check out BoF1&2 on the GBA)
    (maybe) Xenogears
And Suikoden I & II (awesome games, plus the third game is coming out this fall which will continue the story)

If you'd like to try one of the more tactical based RPG's, I'd go with --
    Vanguard Bandits (Ultragunner! WOOT! )
    Saiyuki
    and FF Tactics

get a playstation. Better variety. But, if you're getting a Playstation, that's sorta a waste. Save your money and get a PS2, that way you can play both PS2 and PSX games...

Yes, Me, the Nintendo Fanboy just said that..

Depending on your money situation, I say both. Around here (Pittsburgh), you can an N64 used for $10 - $20.

And that's the NICE way of putting it. I just got both, so I'm rather happy. I would go for the Playstation, they have far better games. I like Zelda and all, but it's not enough to buy the system. They have tons of good RPG's, and if that's not your thing they have other things to choose from.

Both Lunars (the first one was just re-released for 19.95, and you can still find the second one)
Here I thought I was the only one who played, beat, and enjoyed both those games. The first Lunar that was re-release is kinda hard to find since they stopped making them after a certain point. It should be easy to find Lunar 2 though.

As far as Lunar goes, it's alright. THe plots cool and the action's cool, but I hated the voices. I'm just gonna hope that the GBA remake of "Silver Star Story" comes to the US. Great graphics, great plot, and NO VOICES!

Hmm, between my local Wal-Mart and Target there are about 5 copies of the re-release waiting, begging for someone to take them home. I'd buy 'em but since they're not the limited collectors edition they don't command that high a price on E-Bay.

Almost any Playstation game, unless it's a part of the Greatest Hits line or was one of the last releases is going to be somewhat hard to find. Others, which had less than 1,000,000 copies printed for the entire US are going to be even harder. Your best bet for some of the harder to find games are going to be places like Funcoland (their ratio between buying price and selling price sucks, but that is where I was able to find my first copy of Suikoden I, paid $30 for it and it was worth every penny) used book stores that deal in used software, on-line trading sites (try http://gametz.com/ ), or E-Bay (blgh!).

    Playstation beats N64 with ease

The Playstation beats the N64... with ease. There are about 10 great games for the Playstation for every 1 great game on the N64. The two Zelda N64 games are great, but if that's all you want to play, then it's not worth the investment. The Final Fantasy games are better than the Zelda N64 games by a wide margin, IMO. And if you like RPGs, check this list out!

    PS1 Classic RPGs from Squaresoft
    -------------------------------------------
Final Fantasy Chonicles (includes Chrono Trigger)
    Final Fantasy Anthology
    Final Fantasy VII
    Final Fantasy VIII
    Final Fantasy IX
    Final Fantasy Tactics
    Chrono Cross
    Front Mission 3
    Vagrant Story
    Xenogears
    Parasite Eve
    Parasite Eve 2

... and that's just a list of some RPGs by ONE company on the PS1! There's lots more where these came from!

My list of great PS1 games could go on and on... Metal Gear Solid, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Ape Escape, Crash Bandicoot, Tomb Raider, Resident Evil... and on and on. You're going to get your money's worth with a PS1!!!
Favorites! (1) Action: Transformers & G.I. Joe; Visionairies; The DCAU; Robotech, DBZ, Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo & Trigun; TMNT, MOTU; and Avengers: EMH; (2) Comedy: The Simpsons & Futurama, Space Ghost: Coast to Coast & The Brak Show, Sealab 2021, Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law, ATHF, The Boondocks, The Venture Bros., and Archer

Because of my unfortunate fanboy bias, I'm going with the N64 first.

I've been aching to play the Zelda's for longer. I had about.... two Playstations. And biased aside, I never really had too much fun with it. Closest I came was Xenogears, which I still wanna play pretty bad, but at one point as most PS games seem to do, it just pissed me off. Being more of a chore than fun to play.

What I want to play from it:

Wild ARMs 2(even tho I hear this game is "pissed off" inducing. I loved the first.)

Xenogears (even tho it pissed me off, I love the story concept. Martial artists fighting in giant robots. Hmm... reminds me of another thing I'm a fan of. )

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (played this game on a whim. Utter beauty. I'm terrible at "jumping games", but SotN was just far beyond that. Exhibiting what the best a 2D platformer could be.)

As for Playstation 2.... nothing on there I'm dying to play. Until I find out where the best versions of Skies of Arcadia II and Shenmue III are going. Once I know that, then I'll buy. The maker of Shenmue(greatest most ambitions video game of all time!!!) is making a GameCube Shen-like game. For now, I think my dough will go to a GC, but that still will have to wait until I have money to do so.
