I beat the main story in Alpha Sapphire today. Was pretty fun, the only negative thing I can think of is how hand holding this game is compared to XY. I mean, it was pretty convenient after beating the 4 and 5 badge that the game can take you to the next location and all, and getting that Latias after the 5th badge. Also, RIP Game Corner. On a positive note, I still like the redesign of the Aqua/Magma admins, the Gym Leaders and even the expanded upon story in the game. The story felt a little bit more understandable now.

    My team was

    Sableye/Garnet
    Manetrec/Zeon
    Altaria/Qtip
    Breloom/Peach
    Torkoal/Tortimer
    Swampert/Swampy

I will say that I did use the Megas for Sableye, Altaria and Swampert throughout my journey. I really love Mega Sableye, proved to be a valuable tank for the party. I mean, it loses speed, but gains so much defenses and increase in attacks that I don't mind the trade off. That and Magic Bounce did prove to be useful in some in-game battles. Always kind of glad I like the little fella. Altaria was good for me, along with Swampert.

After spending probably more time thinking about this than I should have, I actually did go with a Lotad. I figured that I would have raised it sooner if I had realized that it could learn Giga Drain later and if I didn't make such a big deal about finding one with that move right now, so I'll just save raising a Treecko for another team.

I've only worked a bit on my Alpha Sapphire team since then, but I've made a lot of progress with Omega Ruby. I have five badges, got a Bagon in a trade that I bred to get a one of my own, got Latios and started exploring Secret Bases. Secret Bases are so much more fun here than they ever were in the original versions. They're such a great way to level grind. I've already seen a lot of people using their Shiny Legendary Pokemon. It's just amazing. They'll probably be more useful later on in the games when my team has better movesets. After challenging a few Secret Bases, I realized that I really need a Water type for my team too, so I went out and caught a Feebas. Here's my Omega Ruby team thus far:

    Blaziken level 58
    Mightyena level 34
    Metang level 40
    Manectric level 33
    Feebas level 25
    Bagon level 25

I did consider for a moment trying to get an Azuril to train instead, but most of my team is already composed to physical hitters and I had already planned on training a Feebas since I did like the idea of raising one into a Milotic, especially when it was so much easier to get a Feebas here than in the original versions. I may to a bit of late night Super Training with Feebas tonight or save that for tomorrow. I kind of want to keep going forward with this team for awhile longer, but I also think that I'll work on my Alpha Sapphire team either this weekend or the following week instead just to keep up with their training.

I had so much trouble coming up with my team composition... I was under the impression that Manectric was a physical hitter but it turned out to be another special specialist so I had to give up on him since it would have ended up with like 4 Special and only 2 physical on my team. See I wanted to get a Sharpedo but then realized it would mean sacrificing a move slot to Surf (a special move) just to get around... but then I still have Pelliper who can learn surf... There's plenty of other options too off course... but I want a pure Hoenn team!

Right now in OmegaRuby I have Sceptile, Taillow, Pelliper, Camerupt, Gardevoir and Sharpedo.

I might end up cutting Taillow later and just slap Fly on Pelliper, but I'm not sure what I could use instead. I barely ever use Taillow. Maybe bring back Risky my Skitty! Tickle is pretty useful.

I'm probably going to get a Feebas on my Alpha Sapphire team! I've never trained one so it'll be fun. Do you need a Super Rod to catch them?

When I start Alpha Sapphire I think I'll go for a team with Blaziken, Gardevoir (can't NOT have her!), Milotic, Manectric and maybe Sableye if its physical...I'll round out the team with some unusual, maybe an Aggron or a bug type. Ninjask is pretty cool after all.

I remember seeing set moves for Manectric as a physical attacker too, but I think it's mainly used as a special attacker now, especially with its Mega Evolution. As for Feebas, you can use any rod to find one. I fished for it with my Good Rod under the bridge at the end of Route 119 and found one on my first try. It was surprisingly easy given how it was near impossible to find a Feebas in the original games.

Aggron is pretty cool. I'm training an Aron on my Alpha Sapphire team and I remember Aggron being pretty useful on my original Sapphire team.

Feebas has a 100% catch rate under the bridge while raining. This is like to make up for how rediculously and unnecesarily hard it was to find in the originals.

Just wish Aggron was Ground/Steel instead of Rock/Steel, just so it would at least be immune to Electric moves.

Sweet! That's a nifty way to set it up too.

That would certainly make Aggron more useful and it would prevent it from having a four times weakness to Fighting type moves.

Man, getting the Eon Ticket was a little tricky at first, but glad I got it. Waling around with my 3DS was a big help. Was able to catch Latios in Alpha Sapphire. I will say that I am enjoying the StreetPass feature in this game more than XY where you only got PokéMiles. Seeing other secret bases is pretty neat, along with fighting other people. Makes me realize I might need to import my Battle Maison teams from X to fight the stronger opponents. That and maybe get them to level 100.
