Video Game title releases on a weekend?

    Like This Thread!
Lately, video game titles have been released on a weekend which brings up the question as to why.

    I'll list a few.

Mario Party 9 for Wii - Sunday, March 11
    Pikmin 3 for Wii U - Sunday, August 11
    Pokemon X and Pokemon Y for Nintendo 3DS - Saturday, October 12

And here are the upcoming titles soon to be released.

Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games for Wii U - Friday, November 15
Super Mario 3D World for Wii U - Friday, November 22
Mario Party: Island Tour for Nintendo 3DS - Friday, November 22

What are your thoughts? Does waiting until the weekend to buy games sound like a good idea or strange?

Nintendo releases games on weekends. It's extremely commonplace of them and nothing new. Helps to catch a buyer's eye in the Sunday fliers and the added playtime since their market is school-aged children who likely can't go to a store on a weekday to get things.
Yup. It's a signature. Go away if you're expecting something interesting here.

Yeah, this really isn't anything new with Nintendo. Most of the Pokemon games in recent years have been released on weekends and it does make a lot of sense. Kids would be more able to go pick up the games on a weekend or on a Friday and have a bit of time to play them before having to go to school the following Monday.
