    Playstattion 1 Games

    Like This Thread!
I recently got a Playstation 1 console and I was wondering if you fine gamers could recommend some games to me for the PS1. I'm not a huge video game player, but I do enjoy playing now and again. I plan to pick up SPIDER-MAN and probably SPIDER-MAN 2: ENTER ELECTRO, but are there other good games y'all could recommend?

Tekken 3 is a fine fighting game.
If you get put in solitary, it ****ing sucks. I was put in there just because they had me in double-lock maximum security, and it's the most tedious ****ing thing. I can't think of anything more boring. There's a Japanimation cartoon I've been trying to watch on Cartoon Network called Witch Hunter Robin, and that's almost as boring.

I liked Mission: Impossible, even though it was a bit linear.

If you can find them for cheap, Jumping Flash! 1 and 2. And Castlevania: SOTN... the greatest PSX game EVER!

I thought you hated videogames. Man, you should have gotten a PS2! Which PS1 did you get? The big grey one or the small white one?

I don't hate video games - I just don't play them that often. I barely play them, in fact. But I had a chance to get a PS1 for basically free and jumped at the chance. I thought 'why not?'. So please...more recommendations please.

Metal Gear Solid - great, great game. Probably one of the best that was ever released on PS1 (if not the best). Another one that was really good was X-Men: Mutant Academy.

Well, I am never one to leave an aspiring gamer in the dark, so here are my suggestions.

Mega Man X4 is a good, but short action game. Don't get X5 or X6, though, unless you enjoy Mega Man a lot.

X-men Mutant Academy 2 is a great fighting game.

Pac-Man World is also a great platform game. It's not a Mario rip-off, the game is seeping with classic Pac-Man.

Other Square games you might enjoy are Xenogears and any one of the two Parasite Eve games.

Be wary of games from Activision's early PSX days, in particular Reboot and Fifth Element. The gaming engines used were just horrible prototypes of the one they finally got right in Spider-Man.

A Gran Turismo game would not hurt.

That should get you occupied for a while...

DON'T GET ENTER ELECTRO. Trust me, it's not worth it. I have a demo of it and it really, really sucks. If you want to choose between Spidey 1&2, get Spidey 1.

    Fighting Games:
    WWF Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game
This game is not what you think! It's pretty much Mortal Kombat meets the WWF. Pretty good game. Features HBK, Undertaker, Razor Ramon, Doink the Clown, Yokozuna, Bam Bam Bigelow, and a few more. Featuring commentary from Jerry "The King" Lawler.

    Action:
    Metal Gear Solid
Trust me, this a great game.

    RPG:
    Final Fantast 7, & 9
Very good games. They both lived up to the hype. But get FF8 if you want. Frankly I did'nt like it that much.

    Platform:
    Crash Bandicoot: Warped
Great game, great graphic.... What more would you want in a game?

    Sports:
    Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1-3
    Great games.....

Another good Squaresoft game would also be Chrono Cross. That game's so cool!

I would recommend any of the greatest hits. There not the greatest hits for nothing you know. Plus they are dirt cheap at $20.00 too. You can't lose...

But I would like to single out a couple of games that are my personal favorites.

Gran Turismo 1 and 2 (Racing)
Any Final Fantasy Title (7, 8, 9, Anthology, Collection, Tactics) (RPG)
    Chrono Cross (RPG)
    Metal Gear Solid 1 (Action)
    Tomb Raider 1 (Action/Strategy)
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 (Sports)

    I'll add more later...
    This has been Dark Spider....
    Buh-za! Chik-ka! Wuh-pa! Teamo Kiyone...o!!!! Oops wrong show....

The Castlevania game is GREAT. Loads of enemies, great control, stellar music, and a deep atmosphere.

A few of the top of my head:

    Any Resident Evil
    Einhander (Square-made shooter)
Vagrant Story (highly underrated Square action-RPG)
    Dino Crisis 2 (fast action)

And they're right, Enter Electro wasn't as good as the first one.

Just thought of another. Get all the Final Fantasies for PS1, if your an RPG fan that is. Maybe Chrono Cross too. And if you like Resident Evil you should check out Dino Crisis.
