Square's new RPG...Kingdom Hearts.

An hour ago, I was at a newsstand and I was reading "GameNow" magazine. It was then I stumbled upon an article entitled..."Kingdom Hearts".

Kingdom Hearts is a new Square RPG that features Disney characters. That's right, Disney Characters. Its about a character named Sora who goes on an adventure, to save the king of the land, Mickey Mouse.

The characters featured on the game are a mix of Disney and Final Fantasy characters. Some are (off the top of my head) Mulan, Squall (FF8), Aeris (FF7), Hercules (I think), Selphie (FF8), Tidus (FF10), Cinderella, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Rikku (FF10), and others.

There are a few Final Fantasy and Square traits in the game. Elemental Magic is in it such as the basic fire, lightning, ice magic. There are summons to featuring some Disney characters such as Simba, the red dragon thing from Mulan, and others.

"GameNow" says that "the game isn't like a traditional menu based game, but rather a Zelda like game". I think they are trying to say that this game is an Action-RPG where you can move and fight on screen without the use of menus (like an action game).

"GameNow"'s people say that this game is a decent game and it may sound like a kiddie RPG but its far from it. The game makes the Disney characters cool in terms of character and such. The game's plot is like a series of missions with a lot of side quests in it.

The game sounds like a good game to me and when it comes out, I may give it a try. What do you guys think...

I don't really like the fact that they're using DISNEY characters, but it sounds like it's gonna be pretty funny with Disney and the FF characters combining. It sounds almost cool; can't wait till it comes out.

Onion kids I could understand, but hell, most modern day FF vets can't even remember something THAT old. Especially since FF3 never got released in the states.

But I have one question about Summons

Will it have FF summons?

A joke would be if Goofy would Summon A Leviathan, And summoned the FF version instead the one from Atlantis.

This game sounds cool!

I'm a die-hard Final Fantasy fan (obviously ), but I've never cared for the entertainment Disney produces (Aladdin, The Lion King, Hecrules, and Mulan are the only four Disney movies I ever liked). When I first heard about this game, I said to myself, "That sounds SO corny," but when I actually read the basic plot and saw screen shots, I changed my mind to "OK, I've gotta get this game!"

I have a feeling this will be a great game. Squaresoft has yet to let me down! Even the 'so-so' games Squaresoft produces are usually better than most other companies' flagship franchises, IMO.

Oh, and based on what I've read, some of the summons will be Final Fantasy-style aeons, but the majority of the summons will be Disney characters (for example, Mulan and Dumbo are summons).

I'm looking forward to this game since I'm a Final Fantasy fan and everything. It's nice to see that Cloud's in the game somewhere, but where is Sephiroth!? He would be a great villian to have in that game.

Actually, it doesn't seem so bad if you replace Aeris with simba in a certain scene I can think of. Cat-kabob. Yum.

What's wrong with Aeris being in this game?

It's not like this game is a continuation of Final Fantasy VII, or any Final Fantasy game for that matter... it also isn't part of the storylines for any of Disney's movies either.

It's the ultimate 'alternate reality' storyline. Given that, they can throw in whoever they want! Because, at the end of the game, everyone will go back to their respective "universes" (both Final Fantasy and Disney) like none of this ever happened... wait, in their respective "univereses", none of this ever DID happen!

I've known about this for a long time. It looks like a unique game, to say the least, and it'll be interesting to see how Square handles the Disney characters.

To be quite honest, I can wait for this game to come out too.... You know why? From what I've read, characters from "The Nightmare Before Christmas" will also be in the game! I can't wait!

to answer cjshoup's question yes there are summons. but the summons are disney character like dumbo and mushu(mulan) and so many more!!!

Here's another thing to fry your brain... I've read many hands-on impressions of people playing the import version, and, aside from minor camera hinkiness, everyone loves it. I know it made my list, anyway.

Besides, as I've said before, any game with the guts to combine Winnie the Pooh and The Nightmare Before Christmas gets my vote!
