Namco is making use of their Bandai side with .hack characters.

Sonic and Pacman should be in here somewhere but I'm thrilled Mega Man X made the cut.

    This game looks pretty neat.

What's really a slap in the face here is that Kurt and Reila are representing Valkyria Chronicles, the leads from a Japan-only sequel when characters like Selvaria and Alicia are more popular and recognizable.

    First trailer:

Despite the trailer implying otherwise, it is an SRPG not a fighter.

Sales kind of are an important indicator of popularity.

I remember reading the list of characters before and completely overlooked how Ulala and Sakura Wars are in this. That's pretty neat.
In fact, it wasn't until recently that I found out Sakura Wars was a game. I thought it was just an anime.
Ah well, learn something new everyday!

This week Famitsu revealed a couple of new characters. From Namco Bandai's God Eater: Alisa and Soma, from Sega End of Eternity (Resonance of Fate) Leanne and Zephyr and from CapcomDarkstalkers Lei-Lei (Hsien-Ko) and Dead Rising Frank West. Still no Sonic or Pac Man.

Namco's digging up God Eater characters? That's another bad sign for localization. Namco Bandai didn't even release that game here (though their sister D3 did), and the sequel most likely will be Japan-only.

Here are the new screenshots showing Frank West and the rest of the cast in action. I am not familiar with the God Eater series but they sure love carrying big swords around.

Monolith worked on Capcom x Namco back on the PS2. It was a similar looking SRPG to X Zone. It was poorly received, and Japan only as well.

They also worked on Xenoblade and the came to the West and was better than CxN game. So there still hope.

Here are some direct screenshots of the Bruno and rest of characters revelaed this week.

Xenoblade is a vastly different game than CxN. It was also created by different people within Monolith. While Xenoblade doesn't share key staff with that of CxN, Project x Zone does.

This is unexpected. From Siliconera, another character from the Mega Man X series will be making an appearance, but it's not Axl or Sigma. It's Iris from Mega Man X4!

Oh man, that would be amazing. I'd totally go for it. 1st impression is this is like Super Robot Wars, except you can control your units in battle. Works for me! Seems like combat is a button mashing affair, some details about the controls remind me of Tales of the Abyss. Playing that right now on my 3DS, my problem with that is battles have just been flying by and the need for strategy is almost nonexistent so far.

Missing heroic characters from the original Valkyria Chronicles...but then the natural companion for Alicia is Welkin, and a tank commander doesn't exactly mix with this kind of thing.

I would suggest that it's not the medium, but the quality of perception and expression, that determines the significance of art. But what would a cartoonist know? -Bill Watterson
