Devil May Cry is Receiving a Hollywood Treatment (Discussions)

Yeah, another movie based on a widely popular game franchise is getting hollywood treatment. This time, it's Capcom's Devil May Cry. Here's more, via Kotaku

Capcom and developer Ninja Theory are hard at work on a Devil May Cry reboot video game dubbed DmC. Factoring in that left turn for the franchise and the manner in which the Resident Evil films deviated from the video games, we're guessing Screen Gems won't be afraid to take liberties with Dante and friends.

Let's just hope they don't take it in a Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li direction...

Wow, first there's the news of the new "DmC" game being made by Ninja Theory and being totally stripped of everything that made the original series what it was in the first place (well, alright, to be fair I can't really judge too much without seeing any gameplay, but I still hate the entire look and style of the new game, so far), and now its going its going to get bastardized even more with a crappy live-action film (and don't even pretend for a second that any of you really believe that it will turn out any good).

I really feel sorry for the DMC fan-base.

Also, as someone who relatively enjoys what I've played of the various DMC games, with the exception of DMC2, I don't feel that the series deserves to be demoted like this with a crappy movie adaptation.

The question that comes to mind is: Why hasn't this happened already?

Oh it'll suck (or, do what it's intended to do, if you look at it another way), but as soon as I heard the Resident Evil people were on it, I realized everything Alice does in the movies is exactly what Dante does. A 2-hour string of dodging monsters stylishly.

They'll probably get Paul Anderson to direct it. And a little piece of me will die on the inside... How does that man keep getting work...
