I have never seen or heard of any of these videos. What are they exactly?
Good Morning everyone. So recently been getting really addicted to all these Let's Play video, and was wondering if anyone else watches them? The thing that has gotten me addicted was some of the people doing the running commentary during the game just makes it so much more fun. There are quite a few that I seem to watch lately like Chuggaaconroy, hercrabbiness, lordvega and heck about 30 more people as well.
I have never seen or heard of any of these videos. What are they exactly?
I enjoy em too - it's a nice way to 'replay' a game, remembering all those nice little events and touches and things in em, but multitask and do other things if you're busy. If you can find one led by someone with a likable personality, it also adds a kind of 'developer's commentary' to the mix, usually echoing the thoughts you had when you played the game, or giving some walkthrough-like advice if you want to play again too.
I don't follow many. Of all the ones I watched, I only subscribed to NintendoCapriSun, and catch the occassional ones from the That Guy with the Glasses crew, but they have their appeal.

Think of it almost like watching DVD commentary. Since we cant link certain sites, i would recommend typing lets play kings quest III for example and you will find a pretty common site to watch videos people post. Then you will have an idea of what place i am talking about. If that don't help YOU could figure it out if you went down a water TUBE at a water park. Hope that is not against the rules saying it like that. If it is I will kindly delete that sentence.
Yea it is important to find a person that meets your type of personality, I have found a few videos that were a little annoying but for the game in question i end up sticking around. However sometimes the Wife gets on me and saying that person voice is putting me to sleep can you stop it or do something else lol.
Yes I've watched a fair share of Deceased Crab being driven insane by Skimpy Swimsuits, Trilby Clones, and the Cactus Dance.
I used to discount them, as who wanted to hear someone's voice during a game? (Most of the time I was looking for walkthrough information.) Then I encountered Kikoskia's Let's Play of Ultima VII and got hooked.
It's gotten to the point that I'm trying to hook up a laptop to a television so that I can just auto-play the hundred some odd videos in a person's playlist.

Holy Medaroli! Email address updated. (a.k.a. now valid and working)
I think this stuff more or less falls under Fair Use (they're "video reviews" of a sort and don't offer anything near what the original products offer), so feel free to post links. All I ask is a Mature Language warning where applicable.
THE CASTLE OF SIR LEMMING
THIS MONTH'S UPDATE: Christmas Countdown! 25 Christmas songs of interest.
Mature Language Warning for minor cursing, except at the end for the general middle finger the games give you.
The Dark ID (Screenshot LP):

Click on the Dark ID name. You'll find the most hilarious ramblings about the Resident Evil franchise, Clock Tower, and Final Fantasy: Dirge of Cerberus. From Jockstrap woes of Nomura to photoshopping the Cabin fight in RE4 as a great last stand of the Civil War. Actually, he photoshops a lot of running gags like putting Wisconsin cheese heads on Mendez (Big Cheese).
No warning needed
And Scorchy's KOTOR II goes deep into the incomplete game, including exploring locked areas like HK-47's solo planet mission. Definitely the most enjoyable in terms of trivia and in-depth discussion. Screenshot LP, also.
Little warning, much cave-man snake impression
Chip Cheezum, General Ironicus's Metal Gear Solid 3 neatly separates cutscenes and actual gameplay, but also explore every single possible thing you could do in the game, including beating Volgin with a FROG and MUSHROOM. Gameplay LP, obviously.
And unlike dumb Youtube lp's, the gameplay LP's are hosted on sites like Viddler so you get the whole 20-30 minutes per update, instead of switching every 10 minutes. (Youtube LP's are horrible in general)
Hit list:
Lose =/= Loose
Canon =/= Cannon
I was actually just wondering if there was a thread like this right before reading this title, lol.
I watch only chuggaaconroy's videos really (he's up to over 80,000 subscribers!). I like how he does his video editing and commentary. It's lively, and there are some funny moments from his commentating alone.
I do watch others like Marriland occasionally though, he's also a good let's player.
Fun fact: not all LPs are videos. Did you know that Yahtzee (of Zero Punctuation fame) did an LP for Flashback? It's one of the non-video ones.

anyone know where I can find a good youtuber with some lets play videos of Call of Duty Modern Warfare Reflex?
I love when they're hilarious. Or people trying to make their way through terrible games (Sonic 2006).
