    Final Fantasy 8

    Like This Thread!
Hi all. I just bought a PS2 recently and now I'm catching up with all the Final Fantasy games I missed by not having a PS1. Right now I'm on Disc 3 of FF8, and I think it's a great game.

I really like the lion Griever that Squall has on his gunblade, and I've been looking online for a picture of it with no success. I've found some screen captures of the gunblade, but I was hoping for something with just Griever.

Can anyone help me? If so, please respond here or PM me.

    Happy to help out!

Oh, you're on Disc 3 of Final Fantasy VIII and you really like Griever? Then you've got a BIG surprise coming your way then, when you get to Disc 4... it'll knock your socks off! But I'm not gonna spoil it for you.

If you haven't found this website already, then you MUST check it out... it's the ultimate Final Fantasy website!

    http://www.ffonline.com/

It has everything, and I do mean everything, a Final Fantasy fan could want. Wallpapers, artwork, screenshots, beastiaries, walkthroughs... you name it, it's in there somewhere! The website also contains comprehensive coverage of Final Fantasies IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, and Tactics.

By the way, I'm a huge Final Fantasy fan -- as you can tell by both my name and my avatar -- and I've played Final Fantasies VI, VII, VIII, IX, and X all the way through, as well as Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross (by the way, these two games are worth checking out too!).

    Hope that helps.

Thanks for the website Squall, looks great.

I absolutely LOVED Final Fantasy 6 (3 here in the US) and Chrono Trigger when I had them on my old SNES. Chrono Cross and FF9 are going to be part of my collection soon enough too. I pretty much like any RPG that comes out from Square, so now I have a ton of great games to look forward to playing.

    Other Squaresoft Games

Well, this is a complete list of Squaresoft games that are worth playing (and owning!) on your PS2:

Final Fantasy Chronicles (FFIV and Chrono Trigger)
Final Fantasy Anthology (FFV and FFVI)
    Final Fantasy VII
    Final Fantasy VIII
    Final Fantasy IX
    Final Fantasy X
    Chrono Cross
    Vagrant Story
    Parasite Eve
    Parasite Eve II
    Xenogears

And, these games are made by other companies (Konami in particular), but they're games you'd love too, if you like Squaresoft's video games:

    Metal Gear Solid
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
    Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
    Castlevania: Chronicles

And, on a side note... if you like American Football (I say 'American' since people from all over the world are members of World's Finest, and 'Football' to the rest of the world is 'Soccer' to people in the USA), then you've GOT to play Madden NFL 2002! It's such a beautiful American Football game, tears will come to your eyes when you play it for the first time!

I'ma big FF fan too. Stories and soundtracks is what I've enjoyed most!

Playing FF VI at the moment. I found FFVIII one of the weakest at the time, but have a feeling I may go back to it soon. Was just a little too linear...! Some great music in it though!

Can't beat FF7! THE best game EVER!

Hey SJJ, Final Fantasy 6 is by far my favorite video game of al time, how far into it are you?

Hey Squall, I'm a big Madden fan. I own 2001 and I've played 2002 a couple of times. Both great games. Do you ever play them in franchise mode? I'm in year 2 of a franchise and I've got the Cleveland Browns in the Super Bowl. I'll log on later and tell you if I win.

Ooooh. I got Final Fantasy Anthology, and right now I am in the midle of playing FFV. I really love the job system in it. It's really fun to use, though some of the jobs are kinda sucky. I'm gonna play FFVI next! And I also played FFVII, FFIX, AND FFX. I liked VII the most out all of them, even though it was kinda depressing.

I must confess to not being far in (around 2hrs or so). I've been very busy with work and music of late and not had much sit about time.
I'm actually at the first meeting with Sabin and have serious trouble getting his Blitz to work - everytime I fail I have another 20 minutes run up to the same point! Very infuriating! My gaming skills seem to have regressed for this game!

What was everyone's favourite FF8 bit of the game? (and replies - remember to add spoiler tags!!!!)

I must confess I thought the ending FMV and credit music was rather spectacular! You have some great stuff to look forward to WB!
Finally a mention to this games chocobo music - certainly the most interesting variation on the theme from any game I've played so far!!!
