    Street Fighter IV sequel?

    Like This Thread!
Well that was fast. So I take it this will be Super Street Fighter IV Turbo with Dee Jay, T. Hawk and probably someone from the SF3 or Alpha games as fighters. They probably will include DLC costumes.

Oh Capcom, you never change do you?

I'm willing to give a sequel/re-release another try but there needs to be a substantial amount of differences and variety to be worth it. What I hated about SFIV was how limited you were. Most characters had only one Super and Ultra, and the multiple fighting styles/special arts were removed. I'd like to see them make a comeback, and maybe remix everyone's theme this time around, not just 2/3rds of the cast.

Otherwise, I'm crossing my fingers for Adon/Karin/Remy.

This is why I'm glad I didn't buy SF4. Just like I didn't buy the first version of Street Fighter 2 or 3. This is like a tradition with Capcom.

I probably won't get this though. I'm not convinced there won't be a 3rd version.

And put in some freaking SF3 characters. There's no reason that game needs to be continually ignored.

When you have DLC, you don't release new full priced updates and leave early adopters out in the cold. You use the DLC to give the buyers their characters and reward, not punish early adoption.

I know! It's just nonsense. No one wants Street Fighter II all over again, with its horde of different versions.

Whatever, I'm happy with BlazBlue anyway. If I do get it I'd just get the first game for the $30 it now is. I sure wouldn't pay $60 for three characters. Three!

Gulity Gear was just as bad. Blazblue might suffer the same fate.

Heck, BlazBlue is supposed to have one soon in time for the European launch next year (with new characters)!

Aside from T.Hawk and Dee Jay, there been rumors all over the place for the Street Fighter IV Update/Sequel which Ibuki and Rolento. Don't quote me on this though, since most of these have been buried deep into the ground for the most part.

Blah, on the subject of BlazBlue, I just found it lacked any dynamic spark to it despite all the pretty looks and seamless animation. But on the other hand...

Egad Capcom, why do you do this? It's simple enough just to have DLC for it but a IV II? And so on and so forth what with all the griping and the moaning and the good reasons to do so.

Am I missing something? Although "Street Fighter 5" seems unlikely after such a short time, I don't see any mention of a "Turbo" style edition of the game either. Nothing I can seem to extract out of the official statements, anyway.

Every Street Fighter title (except for the first one) always has some kind of upgraded version.

-Street Fighter 2 had Super Street Fighter 2, Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Super SF 2 Turbo, SF 2 Championship Edition, SF 2 Hyper Fighting and Hyper SF 2.
-Street Fighter 3 had 2nd Impact and 3rd Strike.
-Street Fighter EX has EX Plus and EX Alpha.
-Street Fighter Alpha 2 and 3 had Alpha 2 Gold and Alpha 3 Max.

Capcom has a habit re-releasing Street Fighter games, so Street Fighter IV getting an upgrade version is not really out of the question.

I know it's not out of the question, but the way people are reacting to the "news" I thought it was something a little more concrete.

Rumor has it that the game will be called Street Fighter IV Dash and it will feature 10 more characters (8 from previous games and 2 new characters). I guess we will find out at TGS next week.

Fair, but I wouldn't buy multiple versions of those either. I strongly believe that if you follow up a game, you make it a true sequel and add something substantial. You don't tweak it and then charge full price for it. That's called ripping me off, and there are way too many good next-gen games out there for that.

If that one rumor is true and it's ten more characters, that's far better. That just might be justifiable, even if not ideal compared to DLC.

Indeed, although I don't begrudge that since Europe gets the game much later than everyone else. The rest of us may also get those characters on DLC, for all anyone knows.

Wow, those 10 characters would actually be good choices. If those guys are actually in the game, I might just get it. The new characters would be nice too, since SF4 was really lacking in that department.

Heh, good thing I've yet to play SFIV. (It's not that I don't want to, I just don't have the resources for it.)

Out of those 10 characters I hope one of those is Guy.

Edit: Oh sh... wow. Just opened the link... YAY!

Street Fighter 3? How about the Street Fighter EX series. None of those EX characters were never shown again in the other Street Fighter series. (So I say)

That list is awesome, but it seems too good to be true.

I'm crossing my fingers for it to be confirmed next week, even if my personal favorite is missing again.

Dudley? Sweet! Although if this (and the two hidden characters) list is true, I wonder if the console exclusive characters will also be in the arcade version. Well, SFIV's been needing an arcade update for awhile now.

I'm still not sure if new characters alone is enough to justify a follow-up game. These could've easily just been DLC, but then the Street Fighter series has become famous (or infamous, depending on your point of view) for 'upgrading' their titles at least 2 or 3 times before coughing up a true sequel.

As for the "new" characters, I'm glad to see Dudley return; I've always felt he was a solid and underrated character in the SF universe. In fact, I can't believe they're putting SF3 characters in there at all; Capcom has always seemed content to just sweep SF3 under the rug and pretend it doesn't exist for the most part.

I would have liked to have seen Elena return, though; granted, she's probably the least popular SF3 character and she didn't play all that great, but I just plain liked to look at her. if nothing else, Elena was good for some fan service.
