Ossu, ora Jacob!

So, I was thinking back to my days at Serebii and I remembered a little idea I was introduced to called a monotype challenge. Essentially, it's playing through a Pokémon game with only one type of Pokémon (excluding dragons, steel, and ghost types due to lack of [early] availability). I thought it would be fun to see if anyone here was willing to partake in beginning a file from the beginning and playing through the game, recording their adventure here and discussing and giving advice to each other.

Here's the basic rules:

  1. The player may use only the selected type of Pokmon (excluding dragon, ghost, and steel types).
  2. If a Pokmon is dual typed (i.e. Charizard being fire and flying) that Pokmon can count as either a fire or flying type depending on the chosen type to play with.
  3. HM Slaves are allowed but are not allowed to be used in battle if the type is not in line with the chosen type (i.e. if you're on a poison challenge you may have a Bibarel for HMs).
  4. No more than one type of Pokmon from the same line, i.e. Nidoran and Nidorino or Nidoking and Nidoking (optional).
  5. Have fun!

How do I know what the end of the game is?

If you're playing RGBY:

  1. Defeat the Elite Four.
  2. Capture each legendary (optional).

If you're playing GSC:

  1. Defeat the Elite Four.
  2. Capture each legendary.
  3. Obtain all sixteen badges.

If you're playing RSE:

  1. Defeat the Elite 4.
  2. Defeat/capture each legendary.
  3. Conquer the Battle Frontier (somewhat optional).

If you're playing FRLG:

  1. Defeat the Elite 4.
  2. Defeat/Capture each Legendary.
  3. Obtain the Ruby and Sapphire.
  4. Defeat the Revitalised Elite 4.

If you're playing DPPt:

  1. Defeat the Elite 4.
  2. Capture/defeat each Legendary.
  3. Conquer the Battle Frontier.
  4. Defeat the revitalised Elite 4.
  5. Have fun, you scurvy dogs!

Lemme know if I forgot any rules.
