Fate/Unlimited Codes is coming to America...as a downloadable game

Fate/stay night has had a weird history. What first began as an adult visual novel, it has spawned a legit, TZ-friendly anime and various other mainstream projects. One of these is Fate/Unlimited codes, a fighting game from Eighting (Bloody Roar, Naruto: Clash Of Ninja, Bleach: Heat the Soul, Tatsunoko VS Capcom) and Capcom. Some people thought that it will never come to America. Never say never.

The PSP version of Fate/unlimited has been confirmed to be released in America this summer. However, there will be no disc. It will be released on the Playstation Store (through the PS3, PSP, or the PSP Media Manager for the PC) and only through there. It will also cost 30 bucks. Who's taking the bait? I might after Rock Band, and another Pro Duo.

Whoa. Should I buy a Playstation 3, I will very likely get it. I'm by no means dedicated to the fighter genre, but I'm one of those that enjoys the show. The youtube clips I've seen look pretty cool.

A commenter at IGN says it costs too much for a downloadable...well, if it were localized for the Playstation 2 that's what it would cost, and it'd have inferior graphics. Also, it could well be that a digital copy will have more staying power at this point. Especially given the inconsistent backward compatibility that Sony is guilty of...

Of course, it sucks for people that only have a PS2, which is my current situation. But it's better than nothing, at least.
I would suggest that it's not the medium, but the quality of perception and expression, that determines the significance of art. But what would a cartoonist know? -Bill Watterson

You'd still have to buy a PSP to play it. PS3 can download it from the store, but that's only if you want to transfer it to PSP via USB cable later.

I haven't gotten into the Stay Night series yet, but those designs make for one pretty game. Looks like a 3D Guilty Gear done correctly.

Damn...that probably puts it out of my reach, but we'll see what happens I suppose.

I can't watch the trailer, did they dub over the voices? I don't really care for the Japanese voices. (and I've never heard the English ones)
